Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Initially I joined couch surfing to start exploring Germany on my very limited budget but I quickly realised that even if I had all the money in the world I would still want to couch surf because I have met such amazing, generous people! Since then I have traveled through Croatia, Slovenia, Austria and the Czech Republic staying with many cool people along the way! Now that I am back home in beautiful Wanaka I am keen to keep my traveling spirit alive by hosting others on their own adventures.

Interests

I love adventures! Whether it be traveling, racing, training or just hanging out with friends, being out on the lakes, rivers or mountain tracks is where I am happiest. I am an adventure racing athlete and have been lucky enough to be able to combine all of the above which has made for a pretty fun last couple of years!
I also enjoy good food, coffee, family time, meeting new people which is why couch surfing is so cool and in my down time reading a book or listening to music. I find most things pretty cool though but if I tried to do everything at once life would get pretty crazy!

Music, Movies, and Books

I love listening to live music, particularly guitar and just anything that is a bit alternative, unique and makes me feel good. I enjoy movies with friends not so much when I'm by myself then I prefer to watch documentaries about adventure, extreme sport and travel and anything done by David Attenbrough! Same with books I prefer biographies over novels.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My first adventure race in the South Island of New Zealand - 5 days of non-stop racing, 500km by bike, kayak and foot, navigating with map and compass and three friends to make up your team of four - Awesome!

Teach, Learn, Share

Three components to a great couch surfing experience! I love to listen and learn from others, then I also like to share my experiences and be listened to. A mutual exchange of ideas, respect and openness :-)

What I Can Share with Hosts

Me! - A relaxed happy person, genuinely interested in them and their life experiences! I always like to share good conversation, food - I can cook, maybe explore together or I can get out of the way and entertain myself no worries. Different hosts have different ways of hosting, each is a unique experience and I like to make sure that everyone enjoys having me as a surfer because I so appreciate their generosity in letting me into their home!
