About Me

Hi there!
My name is Aimee and I'm originally from Manchester (home of excellent music) but have been living in London for the last 4 years or so. I currently work as a Therapist which can fluctuate between feeling very rewarding on good days and feeling like throwing myself off London Bridge on not so good days! I'm actually leaving my job in a few weeks to travel America then move back home to Manchester (the quality of tea making and beer prices are distinctly more appealing). In my spare time outside of work I enjoy creative and artistic endeavours so you will find me at an art gallery, watching live music or in the pursuit of good food and wine. Family and friends are very important to me and I try and visit as much as possible. One of my talents is cooking and baking and I love hosting dinner parties or baking creative birthday cakes (I'm a massive feeder!). My secret superpower is writing and performing rap parodies and in my imagination I am sometimes Taylor Swift. Drop me a message if you want to know more about me :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

As I mentioned it is my intention to travel America in May and June which will ultimately mean I need places to rest my weary head! As I'm travelling alone I thought couchsurfing would be an excellent opportunity to have a unique experience and make some friends along the way-and ensuring my hosts are all welcome to stay with me once I return to Manchester! My brother Alexander is a couchsurfing pro and recommended I check it out (he is happy to host anyone kind enough to host me too!).

Music, Movies, and Books

Indie, rock and roll, country, R and B, pop-basically anything good live and where the band can play their own instruments and write their own songs!

I have an eclectic film taste so I love powerful and moving films but also whack in a bit of Frozen! My favourite film is probably True Romance or Robin Hood-the Disney version with the foxes.

I love to read and consume as many tomes as possible! I love Mitch Albom for quietly pensive work, and a bit of Jack Reacher for the All-American action hero. Big fan of poetry too-I fell in love with Robert Frost at College and haven't looked back.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Gosh, I'm not sure anything I've done could really be classed as 'amazing' but i've done a few of the bucket list classics-travelled the world, met my idols, moved cities, worked abroad, hitch hiked in a foreign land, climbed famous landmarks, hot air ballooned and bungee jumped off the Auckland Bridge. I guess my up and coming solo road trip across America will be pretty amazing if I can pull it off?!

What I Can Share with Hosts

A good British sense of humour, how to write an awesome rap parody with a singing interlude, receipts for Greek food and the key to a successful cake, nice cups of tea, philosophical insight, a friendly ear and advice, how to do the cups song, ideas for travel :)
