About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Travel, Teach/Practice Yoga, Meditate, Party. Repeat.

ABOUT ME

I am a friendly warm-hearted, somewhat glib, good-humored lady. I love to have conversations about ANYTHING. Movies, Music, Philosophy, Human Nature, Life Experiences etc.

I love to laugh. If I am spending time with you, we WILL LAUGH. I love to laugh at myself.

I teach and practice Bikram Yoga. I have discovered Vipassana Meditation and dig that too. I love artistic expression in whatever form it takes, I keep my mind as open as possible.

I am allergic to some foodstuffs, such as Gluten, Dairy and Soy. I don't eat meat, generally. Fish and Eggs are not deal-breakers if I am starving or my body is asking for it. But it is not regular for me. Other than that I am not a picky eater. I love spices, flavors and every type of fruit and vegetable in existence.

PHILOSOPHY

I want to be the best me I can be. I want to love myself deeply and truly so that I can love you the same way. I strive to appreciate the moment, the person and situation exactly as it is. Understanding that my mind is a filter and a tool that often can get out of hand. I want to drive the bus, not have the bus drive me crazy!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am currently a surfer as I will be traveling through Scandinavia and other parts of Europe for the next few months. I am sure that once I have a steady location again I would love hosting.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I traveled through Europe summer 2012 and couchsurfed in Utrecht, Berlin, Stockholm, Malmo, Helsinki, Paris, Florence, Prague and Vienna and Cologne. It was truly amazing, met so many wonderful people. I also backpacked around Peru and Ecuador for 4 and half weeks in July/August 2013. Loved every minute, but didn't couchsurf much. Lived in Australia for a year, tasmania, melbourne and perth. And then lived in indonesia for several months as well as backpacking around se asia for 6 weeks.

Most recently I traveled in Israel for a month. I have not been a host yet but. Love to meet up with people who are exploring my hometown ( when I am there! )

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: The Magnetic Fields, Belle and Sebastian, Gogol Bordello, Leonard Cohen, Janelle Monae, Sufjan Stevens, Suzanne Vega and The Beatles.

Movies: I have seen a lot of movies. It's a little embarrassing how many movies I have seen. So much time spent in front of a glowing rectangle! Anyway I enjoy David Lynch movies (Blue Velvet, Mullholland Drive, Wild at Heart, Twin Peaks)
Also a big fan of foreign films, I love Jean-Jacques Beineix, Pedro Almadovar and Fellini movies. I like campy movies too (so bad it's good!) Zombie Flicks and silly comedies like Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure. One of my favorites. :)

Books: I am fairly well read. I worked in a bookstore for 4 years. Some of my favorite authors/poets: Tom Robbins, Pablo Neruda, Thich Naht Hahn, H.P. Lovecraft and Jonathan Safran Foer. I am a huge fan of Etgar Keret.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

700 people doing yoga in a room heated to 120 degrees Fahrenheit. Being one of them, surviving 9 weeks of that twice a day. Motorbike trip through Vietnam, mostly on the back of one!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you: basic origami, a Bikram Yoga Class and a new dirty or clean joke!

I would love to learn: other languages, how to climb big rocks, a new clean/dirty joke!

I can share: My smile, gratitude and homemaker skills (as long as they are not abused) I love folding laundry, sweeping the floor and making AWESOME salads and raw desserts.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Cook you something delicious. I enjoy washing dishes, but strangely HATE putting them away. I also give highly praised massages, if I'm in the mood.

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, Austria, Cambodia, Canada, Denmark, Ecuador, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Indonesia, Israel, Italy, Laos, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Peru, Puerto Rico, Sweden, Turkey, Viet Nam
