About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Number of couches in my house: 6. Desire to have couchsurfers: equally high!
ABOUT ME
I am interested in everything and expert in nothing. After living in Seattle for ten years, I still feel I manage to approach my environment like a tourist.
I like building fires, going out for small adventures close to home, watching & talking about movies, board games, and perhaps having tiny living-room dance parties wherein everyone dances awkwardly.
I like doing actual activities rather than partying without a purpose, although a low-key night sitting around drinking wine is sure delicious after a day of working hard. I alternate very much between being adventurous & ambitious, doing projects & making things...and being supremely lazy. I'm a little (too?) serious, but I spend most of my time laughing about stupid shit with people younger than me.
My roommate Cecilia and I (CS username: bedheading) are eager to share with people and learn from them.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Another roommate had Swiss friends stay with us -- he had stayed with them for months in Europe, and they'd stayed with him previously for months in the States. I didn't want them to leave! "Surely, there must be a way to have more experiences like this," I thought; and my roommate Cecilia agreed. Now I wish I could quit my jobs and host couchsurfers full-time.
Interests
architecture, exploring on foot, local cafes, public transportation, bicycling, seeing art (both in galleries and on the street), cooking & baking for people, having chickens, growing fresh vegetables & eating them outside in summer, hammocks, fixing things, coffee.

Music, Movies, and Books
ridiculous History Channel documentaries about how things like bridges or chocolate are made; short vulgar comedies (Mr. Show, Kids in the Hall, Arrested Development, The Whitest Kids U Know), and any genre of film besides the common multiplex blockbuster. I read more than I watch, though: Nicholson Baker, Haruki Murakami, Banana Yoshimoto, Michael Chabon, Phillip Roth. And I like 60s soul, bluegrass, indie rock, jazz, & hip-hop.
Teach, Learn, Share
Maybe cooking or baking, or stained glass making. I have chickens, and I can teach you all about having farm animals in the city.
