About Me

*** not available to host until mid-july, should be able to do host afterwards***

Originally from Lithuania, I am currently based in Budapest where I did my Masters in Public Policy. I currently work remotely as a policy researcher specialising in gender equality, human rights, and social inclusion. Before moving to Budapest, I lived in Italy (2 years) and in the US (4.5 years). Most of my living abroad has been related to different educational opportunities.

Aside from my professional interests, I am very curious about history, especially post-communist history, and how the past influences the present - especially in the area of human rights, gender equality ( for example, historical roots of gender stereotypes and etc).

I am obsessed with cities, so I love to hear various urban legends, learn more about architecture, and educate myself more about various human rights issues related to cities - gentrification, homelessness, public safety for women, inclusive nightlife, etc.

I love trying new vegetarian/vegan foods and learning how traditional/local foods can be veganised/vegetarianised (I am not that great at cooking, but learning)

I am very much into techno, raves, open airs, and festivals.

I play football and rollerskate ( still a beginner for the latter though).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Although I created my CS account 10 years ago, I have not actually used it until now. As I was a student for the most part of my life, hosting was not an option, and my travels were mostly linked to visiting friends and acquaintances. So, I am kind of new here and eager to join the community.

I am here because I want to meet interesting people and learn about a place/ life in different places from the people who live there.

Interests

My life revolves pretty much around the following:

- exploring local vegan/vegetarian restaurants/foods;
- exploring the local techno scene;
- trying out local craft beers;
- history/contemporary art/alternative/activists spaces
- active leisure/outdoors (hiking, football, rollerskating, yoga/strength training especially outside);

  • culture
  • human rights
  • hiking
  • history
  • political science
  • art
  • social justice
  • techno
  • museums
  • bars and clubs
