Overview
About Me
15-20 Aug I will be out of the country – in Poland.
My life currently revolves around two things: work and studies. The former takes most of my evenings. The latter will hopefully lead to a Master's degree in English for Legal Purposes, which is another way of saying 'philology with a practical application'.
Other than that, I do a little bit of reading to learn something about life; a bit of gaming to unwind; a speck of learning how to play the guitar; a smidgen of German; and about an hour a day of walks.
When it comes to personality, I am not a bubbly energetic fuzzball of love and happiness. I am more of a calm, reserved, and observant person, who enjoys a good company and involving conversations. Right not I am a little bit lost in life, trying to find a sense of meaning and direction. Overall, I'm pretty agreeable.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I like the idea of couchsurfing. It allows getting to know people you otherwise would not have met; it expands your horizons; and it allows for sincere human contact, which is so different from the usual tourist experience.
Music, Movies, and Books
My favourite music consists mainly of old crooners, each of whom I deeply admire: Tom Waits, Nick Cave, Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, Lou Reed. Other notable mentions are Fiona Apple, Arcade Fire, Rowland S. Howard, and Radiohead.
My favourite books are Thomas Mann's tetralogy "Joseph and His Brothers" and Chingiz Aitmatov's "The Day Lasts More than a Hundred Years".
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
When I was in primary school there was a darts competition. The winner would get a box of gouache and the runner up would be awarded a pack of cookies. As the event took place in the afternoon and I had not had lunch yet, I was famished. I tried my very best to lose that day. Ten years later, when tidying up, I found a barely opened box of gouache hidden in the deepest corner of a cupboard.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you about my myself, my country, how to cook some of the national dishes, a little bit about how language works.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can share my time and experience with you. We can talk, we can walk, we can cook, we can do other things together.
