Overview
About Me
I'm Latvian-French cross-cultural communication student, violin piano player, hitchhiker and language learner. I love good conversations around a cup of tea and I'm passionate about really random stuff.
Very often I don't get messages on couchsurfing, so for quicker communication text me on: www.instagram.com/aivita.vashkis
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
In my opinion, what many people considering traveling is actually going on vacation. This "traveling," staying in 5 star hotel and then thinking that now you've seen how people live in another country live is like going to zoo thinking that's how animals are in real nature. Real traveling is messy, really uncomfortable and definitely involves meeting locals. I think in last years I got addicted to getting to know new people and I find it really cool that you can just come to a totally foreign place and feel a little bit like at home, because there will be a stranger somewhere, waiting for you and welcoming you. On top of it, people on CS are always very friendly, open minded, they can give you insight into the local culture. It's much more fun (and cheap, hehe) than staying in a hotel and more comfy than camping, you can practice a foreign language, and the best thing - you never know what to expect, because every couchsurfing experience is unique yet awsome. Honestly, CS might be one of the best things about living in the 21 century.

Music, Movies, and Books
I'm open to all kind of arts and genres, I guess I read more than watch, my favorites are classic authors - Dostoyevsky, Goethe, Margaret Mitchell, but I also love Tahereh Mafi's novels (even though she's a modern writer), Harry Potter, LOTR, Sherlock Holmes.
Tame impala, Cage the elephant, The Neighbourhood, Arctic monkeys, Labrinth, Hozier, Imagine Dragons, Tom Rosenthal, Dadi Freyr, The Beatles, Pomme, Feu! Chatterton, Glass animals, Монеточка, Eddy de Pretto, The Pirouettes
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Trying to hitchhike to India or doing European Voluntary Service in the South of France.
Teach, Learn, Share
In case if you want to improve your English, Russian, French or Latvian, or learn something about one of the cultures - I'm ready to share everything I know. I suck at cooking, but I'm crafty because of my Waldorf school background, so I'm good at weird things like knitting and bread-baking :D
What I Can Share with Hosts
First of all, my Russian souls always demands me to bring some small gift to my host (if possible, from my own country), so let me know if you're into something or collect something, so I can contribute to it. :)
I'm not particularly good at teaching languages, but I'm passionate about it, so in case if you want a Latvian/Russian/English lesson-I'm all open to it.
Stories and conversations, ears to listen, tips on mobility programmes (how you can leave your country with Erasmus, etc.), cheap travelling , and hitchhiking advice - that's the domaine of my expertise.
