Overview
About Me
Scottish guy living in Edinburgh. Work as an electronics engineer to fund my travel habit.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I've travelled quite a bit over the years and have always stayed in hostels. I've had friends who've couchsurfed before and recommended it so thought I'd give it a go.
Interests
I'm fairly obsessed with Brazilian culture, particularly the music. I've played in various Brazilian percussion groups in the UK since 2011 and recently spent a few months in Rio to get involved with the music scene there.
If you know of that sort of thing happening near you, let me know.
I love a game of Articulate. And Go Fish. And Uno! Or any other game that ends up with people shouting.
When I'm travelling I like to do a lot of walking. Find myself in micro-breweries probably too often. Really enjoy camping but I generally need a responsible adult to look after me.
Music, Movies, and Books
Music (changes regularly):
Almost anything Brazilian or Cuban.
The Cat Empire.
Books:
Into fantasy series - mythical worlds, interesting characters that develop over multiple books, a sprinkling of magic.
Movies:
Rarely watch films these days. Series suck me in though. Netflix often gives me the judgmental "Are you still watching?" message.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Played in a couple of the street blocos during Carnaval in Rio.
Teach, Learn, Share
I've taught some beginners drumming classes back in Edinburgh so I'm confident I could get a group of people playing something Brazilian on whatever is lying around.
Become really into languages so up for helping someone with their English (don't worry, my Scottish accent is quite mild) or attempting to chat in Portuguese (I've had varying success with this).
What I Can Share with Hosts
Endless enthusiasm and appreciation for helping me out.
Countries I’ve Visited
