About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Just to see more of what's out there. It's a giant world full of fascinating things and even more fascinating people, and I feel the need to get out there and explore it. I'd also like to help people with a similar objective.

ABOUT ME

My name's Andrew. After a year-long sabbatical doing field work in Haiti, I'm back in school working on a Master's. I'm not doing a whole lot of traveling at the moment, but am hoping to stay involved in CS and maybe get some hosting in soon.

PHILOSOPHY

"True light comes not from heaven, but from the human heart itself"

If you want to make the world a better place, you've got to do something about it. I think the CS movement is founded along a very similar train of thought.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Right now I'm mostly using CS as a great way to meet cool people in cool places.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I had heard of CS, but it always sounded a little sketchy to me. That was until I moved into my apartment in Valencia, Spain, and met my roommate who was really into it. I met a few really great people through her and CS, and have really grown to respect the movement! Now I'd like to get involved.

Interests

Technology, international development, and the cross section of the two. Also books, ultimate frisbee, music, guitar, languages, computers, cooking, photography, and much more.

Music, Movies, and Books

I could go on for days. Musically I listen to a lot folk-rock, alternative hip-hop, jazzy trip hop and everything in between. My taste in literature is just the same, ranging from slice of life short stories to science fiction and fantasy. Movies really depend on my mood.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Spending a few weeks working to rebuild New Orleans was a really eye-opening experience. Study abroad in Spain and traveling around Europe helped me grasp the similarities and differences all over the world. In Haiti everyday, was an adventure (for better or worse!). My perspective on the world grew 10-fold.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can get you started on the guitar, and I want to get better! Also I can recommend you some good books, and I'm always looking for recommendations (same goes for music and movies). Finally, I have a few decent recipes up my sleeve (okay, just two) but if you want to learn how to make Spanish tapas (tortilla española, anyone?) I'm your man.

Countries I’ve Visited

France, Germany, Italy, Morocco, Portugal, Spain

Countries I’ve Lived In
