Overview
About Me
Josh | queer | genderfluid | intersectional feminist (because duh).
I like exploring new places, using the word "thing" to describe things, and creating stuff.
Montreal > Alberta > British Columbia.
I left my heart in Iceland in 2015.
When I'm not travelling, I'm a huge homebody, and I prefer hanging out one-on-one or in small groups. I enjoy chill sessions with my cat; craft time; puzzles; board games; and learning things about myself, others, and the universe. I'm wickedly organized, and like to be prepared for things, but I can't follow a schedule for shit.
When I'm travelling, I want to experience everything the place has to offer. I will research the crap out of my destination(s) so that I don't miss anything I'm interested in. My organizing skills are helpful in this, and even better when I'm trying to figure out bus route information in Icelandic. I still take time away when I need it, but mostly I am ready to go for anything that tickles my fancy at the moment.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Originally I needed a last minute place to stay in Dublin. Unknowingly to me, Ed Sheeran was in town at the same time, and all the hostels had booked up. I panicked about not having a place to stay for almost a week before I arrived (a big deal to the anxious, organized person inside me) spent my flight from Oslo to Dublin talking with another passenger about how nice and helpful all the university students were, and if I went to specific areas, I'd no doubt find someone willing to offer me a couch. She would have offered me her place if she lived closer to the city.
Couchsurfing is that same attitude of strangers helping strangers become friends. Connection is what it's all about, people.

Music, Movies, and Books
I don't have favourites, I have moods. That being said, I do tend to stick to the same generalized categories of things.
Books | goodreads.com/ajdxl | Personal development; mental illness; psychology; lgbtq; gender; dystopian; fantasy and sci-fi.
Movies | Sci-fi; Comedy (incl. romantic); Animated | Kingsman: The Secret Service; Interstellar; The Aristocats; Moana; Leap Year.
Music | Alternative (incl. rock, hip-hop; r&b); Indie (incl. alt; folk; pop; rock); Pop (incl. punk; rock; synth; electro); Country. | If I can't sing along to it, I probably don't like it
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I met a baby fox cub on a super remote farm in Iceland, and then ate the most delicious pie I've ever encountered. My tour guide was wicked, and not only had Frozen songs on his playlist, but also sang along. Shout out to Thordur @ Iceak Super Jeep Tours.
Ziplining is by far my favourite activity. I will spend money on it in any new location.
So far I've zipped: Calgary x 2, Whistler, Victoria, Las Vegas, Playa Del Carmen, and Kualoa Ranch in Hawaii.
