Sobre mí

August 2016 :: My husband and I are about 3 weeks away from having our first child o_O So while we get use to this new adventure, we will not be hosting. We still would love to meet and hang out. Maybe show you around, and if not, at least recommend some places to go.

CURRENT MISSION

To meet as many people as possible and travel around...then share those experiences with my students. Inspire them to get out in the world!

ABOUT ME

What can I say...mmmm...I am awesome (bad joke)

In reality, I am a person who loves to meet people, help, and laugh. Most importantly I give my all to my family and friends. Oh...but don't be fooled I do have flaws, I am a psyco cleaner and perfectionist, sometimes a little bossy. People hate me for this...specially my husband, who cannot stand the amount of bleach I use when cleaning. =/

PHILOSOPHY

My moto...."La sonrisa es la cura del alma" so start smiling...
(Laughter cures the soul) Even if your day is not going so great, when someone smiles at you it just makes you feel better. So don't be afraid to share your smile with others =D

Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have stayed with amazing people in London and hosted a few of people in my home in Chicago. Since that I have gotten married and moved to Wisconsin. Not really a place people want to visit =(. So I have not hosted in a while. I also like going to some of the CS Chicago community events, although since I have moved to Eau Claire I have not really done any Couchsurfing. Want to be more involved. Maybe I will start something out here!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

K..so I finally had my first couch surfing experience in London and it was awesome! People were great and super nice. I hope I can return the favor some time soon! This is awesome =D

2011: I am still a firm believer that CS is the best way to travel. I have recommended it to other people and they have loved it too. I want to do more traveling and stay with CSers. I have hosted a few people now and hope to do more of it in the near future.

2012: Because the past two years were insane I had 0 opportunities to travel. However, I started hosting more often. Hopefully I will travel more the rest of this year and am looking forward to experiencing CS as a traveler =P

2013: Didn't really host that many people. I got married in Mexico, and that took all my time.

2014: Finally, my time to do more traveling. Hopefully with my husband. I am looking forward to staying with couchsurfers, at least, having them show me their cities. World, here I come!

We were able to stay with a great couple in Dublin and did some sight seeing in Galway Ireland. As usual great experiences!

Intereses

Well I used to say design..until I spent 9 years trying to get both my bachelors in Graphic and Industrial Design. Now I am burnt out and in order not to loose my mind have focused on other interests. I am sure my passion for it will come back after a good rest from it. So now I am interested in music, reading, dancing, traveling, meeting new people and helping others.

2011: Well, my passion for design is still there, however I decided to change paths and discovered that my true passion is Education. Helping with closing the achievement gap that students in urban settings face through out their life time, has become one of my priorities. As a bilingual teacher, I will not solve the worlds problems but I can contribute a little by giving my all in the classroom everyday. Is it hard, I would say more like brutal, but worth every second once you see those "AHA" moments in your students. LOVE IT!!!

2012: Finally done with my Master's!! So once again I can have my own interests. I have discovered that while I am very flexible and love change my core interests are still the same. Friends, Family and traveling. If I have those 3 everything comes on it's own =D

2013: Was consumed by teaching and planning my wedding in Mexico. It was a blast! As a lot of our friends came to share that amazing day with us from all over the world. Ahmed sang our first dance. Ade flew from Benin to be the maid of honor. And our other 30 friends came from the States to be with us. Great show of love! It was so much fun, that I started my own wedding planning business. Yes my first wedding is being planned in PARIS!

2014: As I am now in Wisconsin. I am trying to get into outdoorsy things. Hiking, snowshoeing, skating, tubing. This last one is the most fun as you get to drink while floating down the river. Great outdoor pastime...lol

Música, películas y libros

Mmm...I guess I am stuck with listening to 80 and 90 Mexican music...hahahaha. Since I moved to the US in the mid 90's it has been hard for me to keep up to date with the Spanish music scene so... Sorry, banda, quebradita and duranguenze are not my thing. Although I will dance if it is 1 or 2 songs.

In English...Lots but I am terrible with names of songs and artists. The one thing I don't really like is Hip Hop songs that only talk about asses and ....

Algo increíble que he hecho

1. Joining CS has been one of the most amazing things I have experienced. It never ceases to amaze me when I arrive at someones home and they open their door to me. Same goes around, the trust that people put in me to host them is great!

2. Joining the International Club at UIC. I have meet and made amazing friends. This has allowed me to travel all around the world. But most importantly it has increased the size of my chosen family.

3. Drastically change my career path and start teaching in inner city schools in Chicago has been eye opening and extremely rewarding. What awestrucks me everyday is my children's ability to see the positive in life even though they have so little. Children are AMAZING!

4. My trip to Tanzania! Going on a Safari and seeing all sorts of gorgeous animals in their habitat made me realize how stupid humans are for not admitting to the great wrongs we are doing to our planet in the name of civilization. My grandpa used to say, "La naturaleza es sabia" (nature is wise), and sharing space with wild creatures made me live his saying. It was great!

5. Experiencing India...do I need to say more?
