ABOUT ME

I've always been interested in the dynamics of culture, conflict, and development. I completed my Master’s work at the University of California, Berkeley. My research focused on decentralized, small-scale, renewable energy projects for rural electrification in Nicaragua. Prior to being a Berkeley Bear, I was a Humboldt State University Lumberjack, focused on learning about Latin American culture, language, and politics.

As a first generation citizen coming from a bicultural household, I continue to be interested in the contributing factors to cross-cultural communication, context-sensitive project strategy, and synergistic collaborations for mutual benefit. My overarching mission is to holistically understand the intersecting structures which cause and exacerbate poverty, and the opportunities available for social and economic justice. In my free time, I enjoy reading, hiking, and contemplating the universe.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

During my year studying abroad in Santiago, Chile, I had the opportunity to courchsurf through both Chile and Peru. It was, by far, the best part of the entire trip. I stayed with loving families who have invited me in to share with them in their daily lives and youthful souls itching to get out and travel just like me.

This community is a family, and a blessing in my life.

兴趣

I am interested in humans, the emotions which control our lives and the culture we create to make sense of it all. I love the products of our humanity that attempt to express the imagination and joy of our lives. I love living simply, and the people who do so. I appreciate those who conserve energy and protect our earth. We must also take care of the people on the planet, so social justice projects and the debates which surround it are of great interests.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

I have accomplished feats of great bravery. I am now able to scale mountains with my courage, stare a mountain lion in the snarling face and laugh. Nothing can touch me now that I have precariously, dangerously, balanced on a bicycle's handlebars with someone else at the helm.
