关于我

CURRENT MISSION

Oops, I did it again.

ABOUT ME

Well, I'm a New England boy who perhaps wishes he had an old England accent. Or perhaps Australian? Yeah, I think I'd prefer Australian. Born and bred in the beautiful state of Connecticut. I think I say beautiful because I now only experience it for about 2 months max. each year. But honestly, it is actually a cool place to grow up. If you're near New Haven/New York City.

My passion (read: sick obsession) with all things Hispanic began in 8th grade. I showed up before school for extra help which our teacher, Delores Lima from Argentina (never noticed that rhymed before), was offering extra help to students who needed it. I apparently didn't and told me now to come. That's when I realized that studying languages, in particular Spanish, was not a chore, but rather a motha effin' joy that continues to this day.

Then I told my mom I was going to college in Puerto Rico when I was 15. She said we'll see. I told her, ju don understan da boriqua life, Ma. Flashforward 4 years and I'm 18 years old living in Madrid, ready to embark on the most amazing 4 years so far of my life, where I'd meet the bestest of friends, coolest of people, and have the most saudade-inducing experiences. Also, I have yet to be to Puerto Rico. But it's on my list of places to go.

So after I graduating from university in May (in Spanish) I packed up, spent the summer between CT & NYC and then packed up again, came over to Poland, found a job teaching English...and here I am.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

Ok, it asks for ONE amazing thing, so I will limit it to just one...and it comes down to a wonderful, late night in Madrid when I returned to my flat with about 4 or 5 friends. The sun was coming up, we were all sobering up. It was going to be a beautiful day. They were all sitting on my small, twin-sized bed. All facing me while we relaxed in my room. I started talking, probably complaining about a dying cactus I had in my room. They laughed. It turned into a 2 hour improvised stand-up routine which we all thoroughly enjoyed. It was the perfect way to start off a day in beautiful Madrid. They got to crack up and I got to entertain (read: have the attention on me for 2 full hours!)

教,学,和分享

I can talk for hours about languages/linguistics. Get me started on Spanish (especially dialectology) and good luck stopping me. I can also teach you the choreography to Baby One More Time, Oops! I Did It Again and You Drive Me Crazy. If you don't know who sings those songs, a part of me wants to tell you never to come see me, but my better half tells me COME PLEASE I HAVE SO MUCH TO TEACH YOU! :)

I like literature, too. Film as well. I'd consider myself a pseudo-intellectual regarding the two. Actually, more literature than film. So if I sense you know more, then I'll let ya take the reigns and teach me something.

If there's nothing I can teach you, get a few drinks in me and I promise you'll be entertained.
