I’m Akanksha — someone who’s guided more by instinct than rigid plans. I currently live in Canada, but parts of me belong to many places. I spent four years living across Europe and have traveled and lived in countries like Italy and Vietnam, experiences that deeply shaped how I see people and the world.

I believe travel is about humans, not landmarks. The conversations you don’t plan for, the kitchens you end up cooking in, the stories you carry long after you leave — that’s what stays with me. Couchsurfing has been a big part of that journey for me.

By work, I’m in strategy and business, but my curiosity extends far beyond titles. I enjoy long conversations, cultural exchange, cooking, observing cities, and understanding how people build their lives in different parts of the world.

I recently married my partner, Rohan — we met online, trusted our instincts, and built a life across continents. Life with him is creative, curious, and always evolving.

I’m respectful, easy to communicate with, and mindful of shared spaces. I value kindness, clarity, and people who are open to exchanging ideas and perspectives.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I’m on Couchsurfing because travel, for me, has always been about people rather than places. I’ve lived in different countries, spent years moving across Europe, and some of my most meaningful travel experiences came from staying in homes, sharing meals, and having conversations that didn’t feel rushed or transactional.

Couchsurfing lets me experience a city through real life — how people think, live, cook, raise families, and build their routines. It’s also how I’ve learned to be more open, grounded, and curious about perspectives different from my own.

Now, I’m excited to share this experience with my husband, who is new to Europe and to Couchsurfing. I want him to experience travel the way it shaped me — through connection, cultural exchange, and genuine human interaction, not just sightseeing.

For me, Couchsurfing isn’t about a free place to stay. It’s about trust, respect, and the belief that the world feels smaller and kinder when we open our homes and stories to one another.
