About Me
CURRENT MISSION
to live until I die
ABOUT ME
I am a retired educator. I taught young adults in the SC prison system from 1988 to 2008. I volunteer my time with local and wider Quaker organizations, Alternatives to Violence Project (AVP), play with my grandchildren and travel as much as I can.
Friend of Bill W. -- if you know what I mean.
PHILOSOPHY
I seek to live at peace with myself and my world.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
My apt. is very small and I shall have to make it more inviting before I can host other CSers. I am available to meet for coffee or lunch and give tours of the local attractions in Columbia, SC.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I spent a month or so in the Netherlands, in 2010, visiting parts of the country I had not seen before. My hosts lived in places as diverse as Amstelhoek and Leeuwarden. I experienced night life in Utrecht, driving the countryside of Frisland, and visiting cheese markets in Gouda (you may not be able to pronounce it, but it's where that cheese is made) and a local dairy that produced its own cheese -from the grass to the display case. I made a good friend in Groningen and we catch up every time we are in one another's neighborhoods.
