About Me

I am a PhD student in Bioinformatics at Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research, Braunschweig, Germany. I am from India, but I will be staying in Germany till I finish my doctorate which should be done in three years
i.e. 2019 (hopefully).

I have always had a passion for traveling and meeting new people and learning new things. I love traveling in Europe especially as this provides an easy getaway from the ever monotonous Ph.D. life. Instead of thinking about unfinished work and sulking alone on my bed or office, I would rather prefer to sulk standing beside the leaning tower of Pisa or some beach on the French Riveria. You're still sulking, but with a pretty nice view :). Jokes aside: Europe has a very rich culture and history and to watch and learn all it has to offer, which I had previously seen only in my history/geography textbooks is an unforgettable experience. Developed a newfound interest in mobile photography because of all this traveling.

I like to code and debug problems: Self-taught troubleshooter for software and hardware problems for pc and laptops.I am generally curious about everything and just like to know things. I have an insatiable hunger for information, especially about technology, history, and geography. This is where my love for quizzing stems from.

When I am not busy pounding my head against my laptop, I mostly sleep or binge watch movies/tv shows and listen to music.
I am a voracious reader and if I like one book, I can't keep it down till I finish it. I myself aspire to become a writer someday. ( A guy has dreams)

I am an ardent tennis fan and absolutely love watching tennis(die-hard Rafa fan). I also follow cricket ( Indian National Team), chess (Anish Giri and Levon Aronian), football (FCB) and badminton. I sometimes dabble in playing as well and I am an amateur chess, and badminton player. I used to play a lot of pc games and multiplayer games (CS, AOE) in my undergrad days, but then I wasn't very happy with my seemingly relaxed and, untroubled life and was very intrigued by the idea of having my brain on the fritz which culminated into me pursuing a Ph.D.

Personality wise, I am kind of an introvert. I would never initiate the conversation myself. So, not much of a talker but a very good listener. However, once I shed my inhibitions and get comfortable around you, we can have very interesting and vivid conversations on versatile topics.
Not a big fan of beer. ( Talk about killing the mood) But, hey! I said not a BIG fan of BEER, there are other spirits out there :).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

As I have already mentioned I like traveling and learning new things. I would like to meet new people who can share their experiences and tell me about their local culture and history. I think Couchsurfing is perhaps the easiest way to meet new people with whom you can exchange and share your experiences about traveling, art, history, science, culture, food, music and what not !! You can make new friends from all parts of the world.
Where else can you get it??
