Overview
About Me
I'm a student of life and I am interested in learning about the global community. I have always been fascinated with different cultures--particularly their food.
To try to satisfy my curiosity, I travelled through parts of Europe when I was sixteen--Italy, France, Switzerland, Germany, and Austria. I was absolutely amazed by all the countries had to offer, and how hospitable people could be--I stayed awhile with a German family who showed me what their version of "normal" German life was. Since then I've met many other Germans with completely different definitions of normalcy or abnormalcy.
Starting around 2013 I spent some time (off and on) traveling the United States--naturally beautiful sites, historic sights, and of course a few party sites--and seeing how much variation my home country has; and along the way I worked for ten months with a bunch of amazing German, Turkish, Indian, South African and French students at a German company.
Over the Summer of 2015 I spent 10 weeks backpacking and couchsurfing (through Norway, Germany, Poland, Turkey, Hungary, Ireland, Iceland, and the Netherlands). That was my first encounter with Couchsurfing, and I feel in love with this concept! Through Couchsurfing I met some of the most amazing people the world has to offer.
For the Winter holidays of 2015 I spent a few weeks visiting America's southern neighbor and my new found love, Mexico. Then I spent a few weeks visiting family and making new amigos in Puerto Rico before heading back to Miami and driving up the East Coast of the United States.
Summer 2016 I went across Europe again and focused more on the Balkins. I fell in love in and with Budapest and packed up my things and moved in January. I've done some traveling since then and would love to meet some like minded folks in Hungary.
Lately I've just been traveling through Europe for work, but I did make it to Asia for the first time in 2017 and that was deliciously rad.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I tend to travel for people and not for touristic sites. I believe you can have the most authentic experiences with locals and I prefer to travel that way.
I am traveled through parts of Norway, Germany, Hungary, Turkey, Poland, Ireland, the Netherlands, and Iceland from May till August mostly relying on CouchSurfing and I met amazing people from all of those amazing places, and those people and experiences with them ignited my love for this community.
I have hosted a few travelers (hitchhikers, friends of friends and even a few CSers [but that doesn't show for some reason]) and I would love to continue to do so when I am home.
Interests
I am an avid advocate for the Arts. I am a potter, a painter, and writer by hobby. I love to cook--food is cultural experience and I love sharing my culture with others. I love a wide variety of music--everything from death metal to Reggae.
I love food. I spent most of my trip to New York City checking out great food places. I ate just about everything everywhere in Europe and Asia From cheap street food to handmade home-cooked meals and I loved it all.

Music, Movies, and Books
Daily I listen to a wide variety of music, my playlist usually includes: Lana del Rey, Bosse, Birdy, Janis Joplin, Bob Dylan, Rammstein, Iggy Azalea, The Bunny and The Bear, Bright Eyes, Stromae, Subway to Sally, The Slow Show, Lil Dicky and more depending on my mood.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I am not sure I can acclaim myself with the word "amazing", but I do a lot of things I believe put goodness into the world. Every Sunday at home I host dinner parties where I share my food and my family history with friends. I have built houses for the homeless, and volunteered at soup kitchens. I have helped with disaster relief organizations after some of the East Coast hurricanes. I feel like I am just doing my best to show kindness to others with the hope that the kindness will be spread further.
Teach, Learn, Share
I have taught conversational English and am TESL certificated. So I can help a bit with teaching English. I know some cooking techniques and I like to think I'm a bit of a handyman (well handywoman) so I can teach a bit of that as well. I have experience in mixed media arts and some 3d software too if anyone needs help with that.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can cook a variety of American food styles--Cajun, Southwest, Tex-Mex and Southern American are my specialties. I can also cook some (emphasis on some lol) Thai, Turkish, Hungarian, German and Filipino dishes and I am currently learning how to make Indian food (I am no expert though). I used to tutor English and I can help with English lessons--a bit. I can share a variety of cultural experiences from my melting-pot background. Also I have some art and handiwork skills if those are needed :)
