About Me

Hejhej!

My name is Akdas and I was born and raised in Stockholm, Sweden. As of writing this I'm 22 years young and I'm currently studying in Linköping, Sweden to become an engineer. I love traveling and I love meeting new people.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Whenever I travel abroad I always think "this place is cool, but I wonder how regular people, people who live here actually live". What I mean is, how's everyday life in the places I visit?

I feel that it is very easy to visit a country and get a touristy experience but it's much harder to actually experience how it is to live in the places I visit. That's why I'm on Couchsurfing, to hopefully get a glimpse of how everyday life is for people in the places I visit and hopefully to be able to offer the everyday life experience to others who visit me.

Interests

Traveling, reading, playing computer games, walking in the woods, exploring, looking for new music.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I mostly enjoy listening to "soft" music, indie/folk/chilltronic and underground hiphop. One of my favourite song of all time is Blood by The Middle East. I'm also a big hiphop fan but chances are it's hiphop you've never heard before, my favourite artist is Nujabes, check him out! I enjoy a lot of jazz/blues inspired hiphop, the language doesn't matter to me, I'll listen as long as it sounds good. I even find great peace in enjoying songs I don't understand, because it comforts me knowing that I can enjoy something without fully understanding it.

Movies: This is a tough one because the movies I love are from such different genres. Some movies I enjoy are Wes Anderson movies (all of them except Rushmore), The Lion King, The God of Cookery(if you haven't seen this one, watch it, it's the most funny movie I know of) and Be Kind Rewind.

Books: I read quite a lot and I have quite many books I think are great, 5 of 5 or however you call it but the honor of favourite book for me goes "East of Eden" by John Steinbeck.

These are just short introductions to my favourite books/movies/music, if we meet I'll tell you more and I'll love to hear about your favourites aswell!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

There are many things I've done that I would describe as amazing. I am aware this is about to sound cliché but to be honest the most amazing thing I have done is probably, met wonderful people and made great friends throughout my life.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am open to learning new things everyday, regardless of what the subject is. I find great joy in learning about how other people's culture and countries.

There are probably a lot of things I can teach but I think the most valuable thing I can teach people is how to choose the shortest line in any store. I pride myself in almost always (I've only chosen the wrong line less than 10 times in 2 years) choosing the right line and with my help you can be a pro-queue picker like me!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Stories, listening ears and maybe(most likely) some great candy. I can also cook and bake for you!

Countries I’ve Visited

Bangladesh, China, England, Hong Kong, Macao, Malaysia, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, United States, Viet Nam

Countries I’ve Lived In
