About Me

I have been living in Istanbul for the last 6 years. I have my own radio program about ecological issues focused on water. I also give lectures about environment and sustainability in a university. On Saturdays i do hiking in the surroundings of Istabul. In the week days i walk in the city. This city is full of surprises and one has to walk to discover them. If you pass by Istanbul let me know and we walk together. You can see a diffefent Istanbul if u walk with me.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

When i was a child I dreamt of being like water; flowing constantly and taking from wherever i pass by. I dreamt of being water; carrying all the memories in myself as i flow. I am still the same child; wanting to travel and get to know more of people and nature... That is why i love Couchsurfing. It can be a great ground for communication and geniune empathy. To learn about a new place through the eyes of someone who has been there for a long time, is a priceless experience. I have hosted some people, have been a guest myself and met others for a coffe or beer through out the past few years thanks to Couchsurfing. Discovering through the eyes of the locals and learning about their lives a bit gives me hope for humanity.

Interests

I love chatting, dancing (salsa in particular, folk dances etc.), listenin to music, swimming, trekking, walking randomly in the street or a forest. I am interested in environmental issues such as the water crisis and the climate change. I did my PhD in the field of Environmental Sciences and working as a part-time lecturer in a university in Istanbul. I also work in a radio station based in the same city.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I pretty much know the city i live in. However, Istanbul is a huge metropolitan with multiple things to see. So knowing the city is a on-going process here. If you have time we can coffee or beer and then take a long walk in the city together. I can recommend you places to go and things to do in Istanbul. I also have a tiny bedroom in the flat i share with my sister. No promises but it can be available if we don't have an other guest or so.
