About Me

**Important** We ask that anyone requesting to surf with us take the time to start Couchsurfing's verification process. We also usually can not host without at least a week's notice, so please understand if we turn down your last minute stay request. We are also probably not the best location or hosts for events like the Arnold Expo or Ohio State events.

I am a software developer working from home, my wife works for the Ohio Historical Connection museum campus. We are world travelers. We are definitely geeks as well.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We have surfed many times, and have hosted many more. We've met great people and had fun in unfamiliar places. Meeting awesome people is just a side benefit.

Interests

Primary Hobbies include woodworking/woodturning, and music. I grew up playing woodwind and folk instruments (like ocarina and tin whistle).

My secondary hobbies include skiing, camping and gardening.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: Geeky, scifi, comedy, Japanese films and anime. Old school mystery flicks and documentaries as well.

TV: archer, big bang theory, animation domination, anime, scifi, etc..

Books: Mostly fantasy stuff like Harry Potter, Redwall. I bridge over into historical texts (old books) and scifi (enders game) every now and then.

Music: Club music from Japan (Trancey stuff), Classical up-tempo (Shostakovich, Holsinger, etc..), and folk music from instruments I play (Ocarina, Tin Whistle, etc..). Catching on to some bluegrass and celtic music most recently.

Books: Scientific Theory, Harry Potter, LOTR, and a lot more I wish I had time to read.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Made a pilgrimage to one of the best breweries in the country. Hill Farmstead Brewery. In the middle of a snowstorm, driving to the middle of nowhere in Vermont to have some of the best beer in the world!

Teach, Learn, Share

In Columbus, I am a gold elite Yelp! reviewer, with over 1,000 reviews. I know the great places for just about any type of food or entertainment in Columbus!

I also play clarinet, tenor sax, a little piano, and some folk instruments like Irish whistles and ocarinas.

I am a novice BJCP judge, so I can teach you about the beer judging process. I am friends with a lot of the local microbreweries and can arrange a tour of some places.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I would be happy to spend some time giving you some free tech support in exchange for surfing! I can also teach you about craft beer, and the homebrew beer judging process.
