Chi sono
Couchsurfing is more than just a platform for free accommodation—it’s a wonderful community for connecting with people from different cultures. I love meeting new people and immersing myself in unfamiliar cultures!:)
I was born in Tokyo and studied sustainability and social welfare at Waseda University. After that, I completed my master’s degree in Sustainability, Society, and the Environment at Kiel University, Germany. I later moved to Amsterdam, where I conducted research on the circular economy. Since 2021, I have been based in Kyoto, working on various projects in architecture, food, and fashion.
I also run Happoryoka (八方良菓), a confectionery business in Kyoto that creates sweets using local by-products such as sake lees, Tofu okara, and ume from umeshu production. My focus is on sustainable product development that supports local businesses and reduces waste.
I am a researcher, entrepreneur, and filmmaker specializing in the circular economy and sustainable business models. Through my work, I aim to bridge European and Japanese sustainability practices by consulting companies, developing new projects, and creating content that raises awareness.
I have published the book "Circular Economy Practice", which explores innovative business models in the Netherlands and their applications in Japan.
Beyond research, I am passionate about documentary filmmaking and have created videos featuring circular businesses and sustainable initiatives worldwide. I also enjoy cooking and love exploring local food cultures when I travel.

PHILOSOPHY
Experience is my greatest teacher. I take time to reflect and focus on what truly matters.
I listen carefully to others, but always make decisions with my heart.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
In 2012, I worked on farms in Italy and Germany as a WWOOFer for a month in each country. During that time, I took a short trip to Zurich, where I had my first Couchsurfing experience. Before that, I thought Couchsurfing was just a platform for free accommodation, but I quickly realized it’s so much more—it’s an exciting way to connect with locals and immerse yourself in their culture. Now, I can’t imagine traveling without Couchsurfing! ^^

Una cosa incredibile che ho fatto
Couchsurfing has truly changed my life! It’s one of the most amazing experiences I’ve ever had. 🙂
A wonderful dinner with Alice Waters! A truly inspiring moment.
I love spending time with kids! They are all so creative and full of curiosity, and I always learn something new from them. Here’s a glimpse of a volunteer lecture I gave about Japanese culture in Germany. We made sushi together, and the children were so excited and curious! (Also, you can hear my odd German... haha!)

Cosa posso offrire ai padroni di casa
More than happy to cook traditional Japanese dishes! My mum runs a Japanese restaurant over 20 years and I learned from her mostly!:)
