About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Make the world a better place. Help people out.
ABOUT ME
I love the idea behind couchsurfing.com. I love the idea that there are people who want to travel and see other cities and countries. I love the idea that there are people who are willing to help them out - "Hey, you can sleep on my couch, no problem." I love that this site exists so that these people can find each other, people who want to travel can do it, and people's faith in humanity is strengthened.
I am a regular, Midwestern guy. I am a Democrat/liberal and open-minded, but not super progressive. I have met lots of great people from all over the world. I am the godparent to several great kids whose dad is from the Ivory Coast and whose mom is from Burkina Faso. I hope that I am pretty well developed. I like sophisticated conversations and insightful conversations about important things. I'm an old soul. Helping people is rewarding to me.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
My place is small - 1/2 an upper flat. My couch is good if you're up to 5', 10" tall, but I do have a longer, inflatable air mattress for the floor, too. I have a photo of the couch in the photos section.
I live four miles from downtown Detroit in SW Detroit. I live just off of Michigan Ave, which is a major road with a bus route that goes straight Downtown. The Greyound bus station is also just off of Michigan Ave just west of Downtown, and it is relatively easy to get to my place from there. Google Maps in mass transit mode seems to be the best way to see the bus schedule. Several of my CS'ers have used Uber because "The D's" mass transit system isn't great.
I took a short trip with CS in 2010, hosted a bunch in the summer of 2013, and helped organize the 2015 Detroit Couch Crash.
