Overview
About Me
Hi I'm Alistair. I grew up in Sheffield and moved to Bristol to study physics and philosophy at University. I worked there for a bit before moving to Reading to do a masters degree in meteorology.
I would say that I'm a fairly relaxed person and easy to get along with. I like to listen to peoples' opinions on whatever topic comes up, and share my own. Something that keeps me going is seeing new things- sometimes this may be a place 1000 miles away from home but sometimes its just something that I've never noticed before, right around the corner.
For the past couple of years I have been learning a bit of Russian and went to Voronezh last year to do a Russian language summer school. This year I'm going to St. Petersburg to do another one, before heading south-east to Moscow, Kazakhstan and then to Kyrgyzstan.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm here to meet new people and get to explore a side of a place you may not see in a hostel or hotel. Also, I'm a stingy student and it's a cheaper way to travel.
Interests
I enjoy cycling, hiking, climbing (and most outdoor activities), listening to live music, going round museums... and afterwards sitting somewhere nice and talking over a beer.

Music, Movies, and Books
Punk and Reggae music. David lynch, Richard Linklater and indie films in general. I read a lot but there are so many authors to name it would take a long time, though I have gotten quite into magical realism at the moment.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can help with tasks around the house- I am a good cook and am usually good with children. Also I would love to help anyone wanting to improve their English.
