About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To see as many concerts as I can afford.

ABOUT ME

Hi. My name is Alaina, I'm 19 years old, and I currently live in the city Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I was born and raised in a tiny town called Meadville, Pennsylvania, where I spent the majority of my time learning and playing with as many types of art that I could get my hands on. I just recently moved in with my best friend in the whole world, Sam, and I am already in love with living in the city.

I've been a big traveller ever since my very first trip to Florida as a child, and I've been all across the United States ever since on family vacations and trips with friends. I love traveling to go see my favorite bands perform, so nine times out of ten that's what I'm planning for.

I currently have two jobs in food service, I'm a hostess at one of our local TGI Friday's chains, and I am also a "sandwich artist" at a sandwich shop called Pita Pit. I am hoping to one day get my name out there more as a freelance artist however.

My true passion is art. I've spent my entire life so far in the arts, from taking dance classes since the young age of three, to performing in my local theater, to photography, to voice lessons and even trying my hand at gymnastics, figure skating, and clarinet. I was the president of the art department for students when I was in high school, and I was even presented with an award upon graduation.

PHILOSOPHY

There is one quote that I live by more than anything:

"Live for today, not for tomorrow."

It is one of the best pieces of philosophical advice that my father has ever given me growing up, because it reminds me that life is too short to wait to achieve your lifelong dreams.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

As for right now, I am mostly interested in surfing. I'm more than happy to meet up with some of the local couch surfers in Pittsburgh, PA if anyone is interested in hanging out and getting some coffee sometime though.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My CS experience is limited. I am a first time user of the site, but I've surfed about 20 times at a friends house before I moved.

Music, Movies, and Books

I have a strong love for the band Panic! At The Disco. Their music is what makes up most of my friendship with my friend, Sam. I listen to a wide range of music, but they will always be my favorite.

Although I'm not much of a movie buff, I'm learning. I try to watch as many different movies as I possibly can, in hopes that one day I'll understand all of the pop culture references people make. I tend to prefer mostly animations, psychological thrillers, and old musicals, and Tim Burton is one of my favorite people. I'll watch anything that's associated with Disney, and I absolutely adore the classic Alice in Wonderland.

With my day mostly taken up by work these days, I hardly get the chance to sit down and read a good book anymore. My favorite authors are Chuck Palahniuk, Paul Neilan, Lewis Carroll, and Jane Austen.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've been to both the Pacific and Atlantic ocean. I've been to Pearl Harbor, and I've been at the top of a volcano in Hawaii.

I've explored the streets of New York City, Las Vegas, and Detroit as a teenager.

I have much to still see and explore, but I hope to have some amazing experiences come from my life in the future.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm always willing to share anything that I've had the chance to learn in my life. I'm mostly versed in the arts, so if there's ever a question that I can answer, I have no problem doing so.

Whenever I get the chance to CS, the one thing I'd love to learn is the city I'm currently in. Not all of the touristy junk, but everything that's in the heart of that city. I want to learn all of the little shops and scenes, and all of the places that only the residents know about.
