I stay on couches. I have had people stay on my couch.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have hosted and been hosted, and that has always gone well. As a host, I make sure you have food and a towel and are warm and take you to do fun things if you want to do fun things, like going to tidepools; as a guest, I am respectful and flexible.

I used to volunteer at an urban farm in Oakland. One day a cowboy from East Oakland came to deliver some horse manure to our plot by the highway, and while I was shoveling the manure into a wheelbarrow, I noticed that he was practicing his lassoing on a plastic police barrier.
