About Me

Easy going and I love to both hear and spin yarns. Feel free to drop a line if you want to chat about a place to stay for a while, I am happy help out if you are stuck with travel plans.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Met some great people through friends asking for a place to stay on their behalf, each time someone has crashed at my place they have so many amazing stories to tell. Most have been friends of friends, and all of them are into the same sport (kayaking), its been great meeting new people and getting to know them on the water. After being told about this place a number of times I thought I would give it a go.

That and after living in Auckland I feel as though anyone arriving off the plane coming into a disorientating city with terrible public transport should really be welcomed and given a safe relaxed place to get their head together!

Music, Movies, and Books

My tastes are pretty eclectic, at the moment I am really into an artist in Afropunk called Fela Kuti, but all music is great music. Movies I feel the same about, though I have just been introduced to Alfred Hitchcock and am loving his work. As for books, I have draws full of them; I love fiction and non-fiction, but I have just finished a book on Malaysias recent history and absolutely loved it.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Heaps of stupid stuff when kayaking... but talk to me long enough and I'll end up spinning a yarn about something entertaining!

Teach, Learn, Share

I make maps as my profession, I am happy to talk about that or programming, or the outdoors!

I am determined to learn how to surf, if someone can help me out with this I would be stoked!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Love to talk about anything, history or politics or just having entertaining conversations. I can clean dishes and help out too :)
