About Me

Hey there!

My name is Alana (or Lanz) and my partner Max and I are young, adventurous travellers that arrived in Canada on May the 13th.

We are 26 and 27 years old, passionate about the outdoors, health and the environment. We usually live in a beautiful city called Christchurch (NZ) in the home we purchased last year. The past 12 months we spent renovating our home and any other spare time we were out mountain biking, surfing, hiking or travelling NZ in our converted van. We feel most at home when we are appreciating the beautiful outdoors. This is what draws us to Canada, along with curiosity and eagerness to meet new people!

We have just purchased a truck and are building a DIY wooden camper to sit on the back (fingers crossed it goes to plan!) so we can explore this beautiful country and spend as much time outdoors as we can.

When we aren't out and about or immersed in a project I love to bake bread, spend time in the garden (veggie garden, flowers, indoor plants too!), listen to podcasts and go for walks with my friends. Whilst you can find Max in the backyard building furniture or kitting out a van, coming up with business ideas or out diving with mates.

Max is a town planner by profession with a particular interest in sustainability and improving the way we develop towns and cities. As an ex-volunteer firefighter and farmer, Max is always motivated by helping others and animals and has had many rewarding experiences in the community.

I've done all sorts of things. In my last job I worked in sales for an incredible fair trade company who are doing their part to improve the lives of communities through making trade fair for all. I am always driven to work for companies who are making the world are better place and supporting the environment in the process.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

An incredible way to experience a new city or country is to put yourself in the shoes of the someone who calls that place home. Couch surfing is a unique way to get to know the locals, see twons from an insider perspective and embrace experience you wouldn't get the chance to if you simply played tourist all the time.

About 6 years ago I did a 6 months OE in Europe. This was my first introduction to couch surfing and had the most incredible experiences with kind hosts. One family we formed such a great relationship with we went back a few months alter and spent a whole week together!

I am excited to share moments and conversation with other kind souls or simply spend a night on their driveway in our camper if that's what suits them best.

Hope to connect with you soon!
