About Me

First off I am not here to date you. If I was looking for a lover I would be on Tinder. I am here to make friends and meet people from around the world. I hate that I even have to put this on my profile but given the number of weird/creepy messages I have gotten lately I have to.

Anyhow back to more interesting things.... I am an adventurous, animal lover who is looking to meet like minded individuals. I love traveling and meeting other travelers and swapping stories.

If you would like to be hosted by me please read my home section and mention something specific from my profile. I love hosting but since I am bringing strangers into my grandmother's home I need to make sure you have at least read my profile and understand the environment you will be staying in.

I have a degree in zoology with a minor in French. My first trip was to Australia and New Zealand for two weeks when I was 15 and I have had the travel bug ever since. I have since traveled to Japan, Canada, Ireland, UK, Czech Republic, Germany, Netherlands, France, and Spain. I lived in Melbourne for about six months as an international student at La Trobe University and had the time of my life. I am determined to make traveling a part of my life and enjoy experiencing the cultures of the places I travel (not just the tourist traps).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

The thing I love most about traveling is meeting fellow travelers from all over the world who each have a unique perspective on life that they can share with me. I would love to meet up with those who are coming to the area and show them around this beautiful state. I am also need to work on my French, so any francophone who want to meet up and chat would be appreciated.

Interests

I am interested in a variety of things including: tea, movies, books, TV shows, animal behavior, sociology, psychology, and obviously traveling. I love learning about different societies, cultures, and ways of life. I have an 'unhealthy' obsession with tea, so if anyone shares that passion please let me know. I would love to grab some tea with travelers or make any CS's some tea. I walk and hike as well, enjoying nature, and cities at night.

Music, Movies, and Books

Ray Bradbury is my favorite author by far, but I enjoy a variety of different books, music, and movies especially those SciFi, fantasy, or dystopian in nature. My favorite book is The Little Prince and have read it in both French and English and studied it extensively.
I am a huge Harry Potter/LOTR/DC/Marvel/DrWho/Whedon/Wheel of Time/ASOIAF(Game of Thrones) nerd, and can talk about these things for way too long. I am open to book suggestions as well.

As far as music goes I am a Beatles fan and also enjoy Queen or other classic rock bands. I will listen to just about anything though anywhere from country to some heavy metal, but usually spend most my time listening to rock from several eras. I am trying to get more into classical music and hiphop currently, but I have to admit I haven't spent too much time seeking out new artists.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I got the oppurtunity to assist in research for the San Diego Zoo Global's Institute for Conservation Research. The project involved ground squirrels and was an amazing time getting hands on experience in the field of my dreams. I hope to be involved in many more field research opportunities throughout my career and hopefully travel to distant parts of the world in order to combine my two passions: traveling and conservation.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I hope that anyone who hosts me will be glad to have someone to tell their stories too as we share a bottle of wine and a meal. I hope that I can provide encouragement or a new perspective to my hosts while also gaining perspective from them. I also enjoy cooking for my hosts some "American" meals or just giving back in anyway possible.
