About Me

One thing I can say about myself is that I always go blank when faced with these "Describe Yourself" questions.

I am a little bit of a hippy, but not really. Let's go with hippy-esque with a touch of urbanism just to keep things interesting. I am curious, spiritual, artistic and contemplative.

I think I'm pretty easygoing. I have a tendency to wander, but will typically stick around if a deep conversation is in order.

Photography is my art of choice.

I love music. I love being introduced to new music. I love introducing others to music that's new to them.

I like to sing and jam with others.

Some things that come to mind at the moment are as follows:

- My favorite time of day is the Golden Hour.
-Bonfires are best when sung and danced around.
-Good stories should not be kept to oneself.
-Three or more objects should be juggled.
-People/Ideas/Places/Moments that inspire
awe should be remembered and shared.
- Life should have movement and meaning.
-Roads should be followed to see where they lead.
-Things that look like they might be roads should
be followed to see where they lead.
-Learning is always happening!
-Spirit is in all that we do, it is up to us to decide to cherish it.
-Humor is good for keeping one's sanity.
-The journey of life is intense. It is deep and meaningful and continues to twist and turn in ways that will take one's breathe away. It will leave us with questions and only the brief glimpse, a sigh of it's immensity that elegantly dances away, just when we begin to perceive that it's there. Isn't it amazing?
-If the above item is any hint, I sometimes go on random tangents.
-I begin a long journey very soon. I hope to meet wonderful and interesting people. Who knows who's path I am about to cross? Maybe yours?

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Curiosity mostly. I am interested in the idea of building community and have heard some great things about CS.

I will be traveling through Venice, Scotland, England and Ireland from April to June of 2015. I am hopeful to meet some friendly and interesting people on the way.

Interests

Photography, music, history, art, singing. The art of making the perfect green chile stew. Connection, learning, deep conversation... about a billion things I can't think of at the moment.

Music, Movies, and Books

I am currently overplaying The Black Keys, Sia, Florence + The Machine, Metric, Morcheeba, Jesca Hoop, the Yoshida Brothers, The Musemeant, Zero 7, The Gorillaz and Iggy Pop to name a few. I suspect there will be overplaying of many others very soon.

A few books I could name are Bless Me Ultima, The Grapes of Wrath, To Kill a Mockingbird, Fierce Invalids Home from Hot Climates, The Wood Wife.

As authors go, Charles De Lint, Franz Kafka and Neil Gaimann are some I would recommend.

I am currently addicted to the following podcasts: This American Life, Welcome to Nightvale, Stuff You Missed in History Class, Serial, The Moth

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

There are many things that have happened in my life that I found amazing. I'll have to get back to you on that.

Teach, Learn, Share

I cannot imagine what we will teach or learn or share with each other. My best bet is that we'll figure it out in the moment.

Maybe we will teach each other songs, or make some up ourselves. Maybe we can discuss philosophy. We can talk about photography and art and spirit. We can swap local music and paint images of the moon in each others minds.

I'll teach you to juggle.

If you already know how to juggle maybe you can teach me to juggle.

Or maybe we'll share food and swap stories. You can show me a good local brew and a beautiful place to sit and enjoy it.

Who knows? I am open to whatever feels right at the moment.
