About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To make it through grad school! And to explore Europe a little bit
ABOUT ME
I'm 29. I've traveled a fair amount...maybe 20 countries? I'm very tall. I've recently gotten into rock climbing. My life plan is to get any decent job that pays okay and gives me lots of freedom. It seems pretty straight forward but I've kinda completely failed at it so far. Up until last year, I lived in Seattle and spent the summer commercial fishing in Alaska. Now I study for a MSc in Europe.
PHILOSOPHY
What's the worst that could happen??
"The flag is a symbol of the fact that man is still a herd animal." - Einstein

با ماه رخى اگر نشستى خوش باش
چون عاقبت كار جهان نيستى است
انگار كه نيستى، چو هستى خوش باش

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
So far I have only surfed. I live in dorm-type housing so I can't really host. However, if you're passing through Enschede and want to meet up I'd be very happy to do so. My school has parties most Fridays and sometimes Saturdays. We also have a lot of sports going on throughout the week (football, rock climbing, track) if you need some exercise on your travels.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've only surfed one couch and it was a very great experience. I'm looking forward to doing it again. However, mostly I've used couchsurfing to just meet people to hang out with in the cities I've visited.
Interests
rock climbing, sailing, having a beer. I love foosball.
When I travel I like to wander. Wander through cities, wander through countries...generally I find myself wandering up into the mountains. But someday...someday I hope to have a quest.

Music, Movies, and Books
My favorite non-fiction is "Let the Sea Make a Noise" and my favorite fiction is "East of Eden" by John Steinbeck. I like reading books about human evolution/origins, EO Wilson kinda stuff.
Music: The Clash! *everything* else is pretty cool too.
Movies: eh...I don't know. I don't mind sitting back, turning off the brain and being wowed by a special effects spectacular...but generally I like it better when I'm a bit more engaged. I think maybe documentaries are my favorite thing to watch right now. 'Fog of War' was amazing...never seen anybody so honest about dealing with mistakes that cost hundreds of thousands of lives. Just watched 'When We Were Kings' which was also really good. 'Dogtown and Z-Boys' great story...
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Sight:dolphins passing my sailboat in the night, leaving phosphorescent trails. It's impossible to photograph, but it looks like this: (http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-IxE9WaskKO0/TatLA-NX-zI/AAAAAAAABRk/hR6dfrhybDw/s1600/Dolphins-Katy-Sm.jpg)Sound:Anchored near shore on a fishing boat in Cross Sound, Alaska, I was going to sleep when some humpback whales passed by. I got to listen to them sing for about a half an hour. It was so quite that I could hear them surface, breathe, dive and sing.
