About Me

Hi :)
My name is Alasdair and I am currently traveling around Canada until the end of June.
I'm half British and half German and currently living in Cologne, Germany.
Maybe we'll meet on my way through Canada.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I would love to make new acquaintances while I'm traveling. Life is so much greater if you share your time with like minded people. Plus, maybe you can help me avoid the tourist traps in your city and tell me which places to check out.

Interests

I'm interested in football and other sports in general. I used to play some tennis too, but that was a long time ago :D
Other than that I'm always up for some great music / festivals (I love Arcade Fire) or just talking about anything and everything.

Music, Movies, and Books

There are so many great bands and musicians, but some of my favourite are:
Arcade Fire, Wolf Alice, The Horrors, Small Black, M83, Mount Kimbie, Psychic Ills, Sleepy Sun, Duke Garwood, Jagwar Ma, Kasabian, Doves, The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Pink Floyd, The Beatles, The Who, Chemical Brothers, Fatboy Slim, The Prodigy, Orbital

Not much of a movie expert. Still, here are some of my favourites in no particular order:
Silence of the Lambs, The Shawshank Redemption, The Usual Suspects, The Intouchables, O Brother Where Art Thou, Ballad of Buster Scruggs, Django Unchained, Roma, 2001: A space odyssey (and a lot of other movies by Kubrick)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I biked 800 km through Jasper and Banff in Alberta with all of my luggage in a bike trailer. One of the craziest and coolest things I've ever done :)

Teach, Learn, Share

If you want to learn some German, I can teach you some as I grew up bilingual.
I studied Computer Science, so if you're interested to learn more about the current developments in the field I'm happy to talk about that.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'd say I'm generally a quite relaxed guy and I don't take myself to seriously.
I'm always up for some adventure and I love to explore. Also, I really enjoy going out for drinks and having a nice chat.
One of my interests is the cosmos and astrophysics. I could talk about space and science in general for hours on end. My dream job is to one day work for the European Space Agency.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Belgium, Canada, France, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, Tunisia, United Kingdom, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In
