About Me
CURRENT MISSION
happily hosting till our next travels ;)
ABOUT ME
i love the feeling of travel, when everything that i have is in my backpack, and my future is unsure. i feel excited and free.
I like to read books and talk about them, look at art, and paint sometimes, i like to drink coffee while reading the newspaper, and regular a cafe so that i know the staff. I like to dance foolishly, listen to new styles of music on my mp3 player, and download music illegally. i think is wrong but i do it anyway. i have lots of imperfections, but hopefully im not bad to be around. i like to think and talk about life, history, plants and places.
sometimes i think about Buddhism ... i agree, most of the time, that reality is a matter of perception - of course, in one frame of mind, that is unarguably true. but im not sure where that fits in with human suffering - in places like Sudan or Ethiopia - can my involvement in suffering only cause more suffering ? - i am no Buddha - my involvement would not be totally detached... how do you justify the monks living in the beautiful temples, meditating their life away? what should i do with my life? in the meantime, i;m just living.
PHILOSOPHY
i'm afraid of death. I'm not sure that makes me "afraid of life" though - i'm certainly not afraid of 'dangerous' life activities - drinking, smoking, driving fast, mountain peaks, 2seater airplanes, jaywalking, etc. ... it's just the choice of being buried underground or burned to ashes. they both seem like terrible choices.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
In an overcrowded refuge in the Spanish Pyrenees Mountains my camping buddy and i met a really sweet English couple. The couple offered us shot after shot of whiskey, with many celebratory cheers and fun. Later, it was realized that there was not enough space for everybody at the refuge - not even floor space, and thunder began to rumble. my friend and i gave our reserved refuge space to the couple (they were older than our parents) and decided to walk the 5 miles down the mountain to a small town. We were stumbling drunk but finally reached the town in the middle of the night, the sleepy town completely shut for the night. we were going to nestle in a plaza with nothing to keep us warm but a tiny piece of hash, when we met a stranger walking home. he lived across the way, and let my friend and i crash in a tiny extra room at his place. eggs in the morning, and such warm hearts! Thank you kind stranger!!!

Music, Movies, and Books
On a Quiet Night
I saw the moonlight before my couch,
And wondered if it were not
frost on the ground.
I raised my head
and looked out on the bright moon;
I bowed my head
and thought of my far-off home

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
the aurora Borealis (northern lights) in Alaskan winters ... it was not only the visual beauty of the dancing yellow, green and red lights among this clear stillness of the stars - but the natural MYSTERY that really gave me hope
