About Me
So I'm an English guy, who emigrated to Italy in 2007 and lived there for 10 years until, at the end of 2016, I quit my job and left my wonderful apartment to go travelling indefinitely. Milan was good fun and has given me many happy memories to look back on and many excellent friends to keep, but in the end something triggered my need to reach out and discover other cultures and experience new ways of living and experiencing life, so I left everything in Milan and packed a rucksack to last me several months.
I travelled through Turkey, India for 2 months, Nepal for a month, 4 months in South East Asia, namely in Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia and then onto Canada and the USA before heading home to the UK for a couple of months. It was when I hit Canada that I decided that South East Asia was going to be my next home. In the end I setup in both Hanoi and Phnom Penh and for now I’m switching between the two for my business, so try me out and let’s see if I’m home!
I grab every opportunity to see new places and people, but most of all to learn from others. If I've written to you to request to stay, it's because I've read your profile carefully and would like to meet 'you', not just get a free place to sleep (I could quite happily get a hostel/hotel). I've hosted many people myself, far more than have hosted me and I dedicated at lot of my time and resources to each and every one of them. Not that I expect anything in return, I did it for the experience of everyone involved.
Please read my reference’s well, they speak louder than these words here. I like hanging out with the people that I host for cultural exchange, so I try to accept who I think is most fitting for us all to have a good time together. I’m addicted to learning about new cultural perspectives and the more we can exchange ideas and views, the better experience in my opinion!
Hope to see you soon.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Hosting and being hosted. It's fun hosting people from various places as they always bring something new to the table, culturally speaking. I've attended many local events in the places I visited. Almost all of my experiences to date on CS have been great - all very different, and I would do them all again. You will never know and see everything, but in the time I have I want to give it a good shot.
Interests
Obviously travelling and meeting new people. Learning about different cultures - I guess the long term plan is to find the best one for me and head there.
I've setup a free English workshop group in Hanoi, called Hanoi English Club (check us out on FB and come on by if you are free, to learn or just converse in English - https://www.facebook.com/groups/199342263989438/?ref=br_rs
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've been on an erupting volcano, lived through a hurricane, felt an earthquake, free fallen 2km and flown a plane on my own.
