About Me

Hi!

Eeh. I'm Alastair? I'm just about to finish studying and I want to go and explore the world. What about you? Can't offer you a place just yet (don't actually have a place of my own at the moment) but will be able to in the near future. Somewhere.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I like the idea. Meeting people is always cool, and meeting friendly people who are prepared to give some of their space and time can make any trip amazing.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None... yet! I've been hearing amazing things about it from friends and I've had this dormant profile for a while now but it's all about to change soon!

Interests

I'm a musician. Under my alter-ego The Muldrew I make folktronica. I also play in a ceilidh band (look it up).

You can listen to my music here: https://soundcloud.com/alastairmackie1

I also dance. Lots of folk dancing, but I also enjoy going crazy in a club haha.

Music, Movies, and Books

Ha! Favourite film is definitely The Constant Gardener. And most films with Audrey Tautou.

Music. Well... Arcade Fire! And most indie music that originated in Iceland (Sin Fang! Ásgeir! Sóley!). And folk. Scottish folk (Session A9! Rura!). But also BalFolk (Les Pilliers des Bal! ...!). Lots and lots more.

Books... Max Havelaar is my all time favourite. Classic.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've played a ceilidh for the princess of Japan. No joke.

Teach, Learn, Share

Is this for inspiring quotes or so?

...Carpe diem?

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can sing you a song. Maybe we could sing together? Or play a tune?

I can cook you a meal. (Libyan pasta? No problem.)

I can teach you a folk dance.
