About Me

Hello! I'm planning to take a sabbatical off work from July 2018 for a year to go travelling, so this year I'm trying to do as much of Europe as I can before a trip to the US in October!

I'm pretty easy going and laid back! I work as a translator at the moment but I'm now sort of thinking that I'm only young once so now's the time to go and see as much of the world as I can.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I think a platform like this is a really cool way to experience local cultures first hand with local people. Because I'm probably only going to be able to do short breaks around Europe until at least 2018, I feel like couchsurfing is such a cool way to experience as much as I can of a new place in a short amount of time!!

I've also heard really good things from my friends who've been travelling so wanted to check it out for myself!

Music, Movies, and Books

I like quite a weird range of music really from Bon Jovi to the Spice Girls - Radiohead, Mumford & Sons, Cage the Elephant, Johnny Cash (LOVE), Eric Clapton, folk music, Welsh folk music is my faaaave, and I'm a huge country fan. I also love anything at all from Hans Zimmer!!

Fave books include: 'Half of a Yellow Sun' Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, anything Bronte (Jane Eyre is my all time fave) or Thomas Hardy, I love French and Russian literature so I'm obsessed with Madame Bovary, L'Assommoir and Crime and Punishment is also a fave. I also can't stop re-reading Anna Karenina....!

My fave movie of ALL TIME is Braveheart - the Celt inside me screaming for justice ha! - and then my second fave would probably be a Welsh language biopic called Hedd Wyn (google him!).

Teach, Learn, Share

I can speak Welsh and am a Welsh Translator so I could teach some Welsh phrases (some people don't even know that we have a different language here in Wales!), I would love to learn different languages!
