About Me

Hi! I'm an architect student from Barcelona. My passion is travelling, and one of the things I like the most is meeting new local people from the places I’ve been. Even though it seems I’m new using CS, I already hosted many people from my organisation, BEST (Board of European Students of Technology).

Since I enjoyed it so much, I’m trying to use this platform to meet new people every time I travel around, which is quite often. I love my life, would you wanna be part of it? Please say yesssss!

I love to draw, actually that’s one of the main reasons why I’m studying architecture. Also I love ice skating, during my childhood I use to take lessons in Barcelona. I used to play also artistic gymnastics but sadly not anymore.
I’m always up for an adventure. Maybe I’m not the one purposing to go to the mountain but if someone does, I’m in. I’m pretty up for any kind of plans. Also I don’t know how to ski, but one day I’ll, it’s one of the 2019 purposes I made (also when I see the snow I’m the one saying: Let’s make and snowman!).

I love photography. So so much. If you wanna take a look to my IG account you’ll notice that I’m an architect student, I just advised you (https://www.instagram.com/albabaroja/). Also it’s full of landscapes and buildings around Europe most of it, cause outside Europe sadly I only been in USA and Japan.

I’m pretty good at cooking. Since I was living in Prague the thing I’d missed the most is my hometown food, that’s why I'd improved a lot. If you’re able to host me, be sure you’ll eat the best Spanish omelette with the best sangria ever (or I hope so, I’ll try my best).

I’m a really curious person. I love the fact that there in Prague you could talk for a long time just grabbing some beers in amazing bars and always discovering new facts about their culture. So yes, I love beer and local traditions! I’m the one always picking the strangest food name on the cart.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Since I enrolled BEST when I was in Barcelona I hosted people from Russia, Japan, Hungary, Italy, Norway and Turkey. When I moved to Prague this September I started hosting even more since I’m living on my own. I already had people from Portugal, Romania, Czech Republic, Spain, Norway and Austria. I wanna keep going on and that’s why I’m here. I really have fun while I’m learning from other cultures. Before being in BEST I also used to book a hostel or similar, but since I had so many great experiences being hosted (and hosting) by locals, I wanna keep going on using the same method as I do in BEST. Not doing the typical touristic stuff only seeing the typical spots is what CS is giving me and I love it.

Music, Movies, and Books

I’m more into reading than watching movies, but here in Prague I’m getting more used to watch some series. I loved Sense8, how they show the cultures around the world. I also watched La casa de papel, Narcos, Merlí, Riverdale and now I’m starting to watch Black Mirror.

Related to books I read the triology of the Fall of Giants (Ken Follet), The guy in the striped pyjamas (John Boyne), Harry Potter (J.K. Rowling), The name of the wind (Patrick Rothfuss), Game of Thrones (George R.R.Martin), The Lord of the rings and The hobbit (J.R.R. Tolkien), 1Q84, After Dark and Tokio Blues (Haruki Murakami), Animal Farm and 1984 (George Orwell), the books from Men who Hate Women (Stieg Larsson), Pride and Prejudice (Jane Austen) The Girl on the Train (Paula Hawkins) and many more.

Related to music I love rock music, but I’m also up to listen electro or any kind of music if it’s with good company. The band that will always be in my heart is Linkin Park, but I also been to some concerts (Imagine Dragons, Muse, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Three Days Grace…) Lately I’ve been listening more symphonic metal like Within Temptation or Nightwish. I also like Kamelot, Grandson, Bring me the Horizon, Shinedown, Pink Floyd, Papa Roach or Rise Against. This is what I usually listen, but when I go to a club I don’t care that much about the music they’re playing #flexibility.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Wearing an unicorn costume for the whole weekend in Prague. That includes wearing it during doing ice skating, clubbing and going around the city for sightseeing.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you many tips for traveling in the cheapest way tasting the best foods all over Europe. Since I'm living in Prague, i'll take you to the best bars here with the best beer of course.

I make the best spanish omelette, and if I had a paella for making one, that also. But for that I need to go back to Barcelona sorry :/

If you wanna learn Spanish or Catalan I'm a native speaker so here I am :D (I also speak really good english, don't worry.)
