About Me

I'm Alba, I am a translator but I have done a bunch of jobs in order to just travel and meet tons of people, which is what I like the most. I have lived in five different countries and I speak five languages and I try to smile all the time:)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I hosted quite a lot of people in Barcelona, and it was so much fun!

I also surfed in Central America, England, Germany and France, and all of my experiences have been great. Each and every one of the people I have met through this website are amazing, I am so glad I registered!

Interests

I love travelling and meeting new people, I especially like meeting people from far away countries that can tell me stuff about their cultures. I really like being a tourist in my own city! When I'm at home, I enjoy drinking tea while watching tv series or reading.
I'm a vegetarian. I am not fuzzy at all - if there's meat on a plate, I might just take it out and give it to the person sitting next to me - but I'm really interested in learning more about vegetarianism and veganism.
I am interested in social justice and I don't want to host (or be hosted by) racist, homophobe or bigots in general.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love music! My favourite band is the Beatles (I love them to bits, I have been to Liverpool many times and I know most of their songs by heart), but I listen to a bit of everything.
My favourite book is The Book Thief, by Markus Zuzak. I will read pretty much everything, but I really enjoy children books, especially those written by Cornelia Funke and Roald Dahl, but I also love, for example, English Victorian literature, or contemporary Mexican women novelists. I'm always open to recommendations!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

-BASE jumping from a mountain in the Swiss Alps. I was eleven, and this is why it had to be a tandem BASE jump but the views and the moment and the air in my face are things that will be in my memory forever.
-Crawling into the Great Pyramid of Giza, because when I was a little child I wanted to grow up to be an egyptologist, and this was like fulfilling a dream.
-Hitchhiking in the middle of the Scottish Highlands with my best friend, to be let out of the car in what looked like the middle of nowhere to climb up my first Munro.
-Playing with the bioluminescence in the Honduran Pacific right after seeing baby turtles hatch and crawl to the sea.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have studied language didactics (how to teach foreign languages), so I can teach you some bits of Catalan or Spanish, maybe even English if I speak it better than you do (: I love learning and I want to hear everything you might want to tell me!!
If I'm hosting you, you can expect warm tea and loads of biscuits! We can also cook together if I have time :)
