i've ever been send to guangzhou, china after the senior high school and that time i recognize no one of chinese alphabet and don't know how to speak and talk in chinese, but i've try to stay around 2 months to learn the photography and learn to blend with the local and learn to talk in chinese.
it's a very awesome experience
