About Me

Passionate, sociable, reliable. I believe to have an analytical mind as well as a sense of humor, maybe a bit "british" (obviously not soooo good).

I love wandering in the cities, by myself or even better if it helps me to find everyday surprises or for connecting and knowing easy going, nice and enthusiastic people.

One of my biggest pleasures is to watch films. Another one is to visit places where I can listen to music, cheer and share impressions with new acquaintances or longtime friends.

I believe to be educated and respectful, as well as a little bit passionate about everything one can do and learn.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I would love to open up my mind and enrich myself traveling. I believe couchsurfing to be a way for finding friends that can transform a trip into an enlightening experience (or at least a fun or different one).

Interests

I'm really into cultural life as well as social interaction. I also like to write and share thoughts with others.

I can't live without hanging out and/or losing myself in the cities. But I also like the opposite, to know persons that can teach me a lot of things, and because of that, help me for knowing myself a little bit better.

For many years I used to work as chief editor of loyalty programs (let's say, magazines) as Ticketmaster's Guide to Entertainment (concerts, escenic arts, contemporary arts, sports) and another magazine I really liked, about movies and film analysis.

As I emphasized, I'm really into film, from classics, to modern or weird. It could be the work of historical masters in the industry (active or gone), as Scorsese, Coppola, Kubrick, or films you can enjoy/suffer, common in arthouse festivals as Locarno, Rotterdam or the Orizzonti section in Venice (I'm also keen of contemporary art trends). You name them.

As well, I enjoy jogging in cities' streets.

Music, Movies, and Books

You know, they are clichés, but still.
Movies:
Leolo
Blue Velvet
Rashomon
Woman in the Dunes
Les années lumière
Goodfellas

Filmmakers: Herzog, Buñuel, John Cassavetes, the Coen Brothers, Jim Jarmusch, Claire Denis, Polanski, Terrence Malick, Spike Jonze, Paul Thomas Anderson, Bruno Dumont, Terry Jones, Lars von Trier, Apichatpong Weerasethakul, some Truffaut, Resnais and Godard... And another usual ones.

I'm not a constant reader (damn!), but I like the work of popular authors as Paul Auster, Martin Amis, some beatniks, Bukowski, Henry Miller, the polemical Michel Houellebecq and even some science fiction or noir authors as James Ellroy.

I'm very fond of all pop music that dares to explore, specially rock (Beatles, Pink Floyd, The Doors, Velvet Underground, psychedelic and progressive rock, krautrok, some grunge, the wide indie, some goth, folk as Elliott Smith, many post-punk bands or heirs of the britpop scene in the 90s) but also like experimental sounds or hybrids of pop with tropicalia, electronic (not trance or that kind of danceable electronic), salsa and more (if you want, you can listen to many great music hybrids playlists in dublab.com).

As a matter of fact, I also used to write about popular music phenomena.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Not many... That's one of the biggest reasons for getting into this!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can mildly teach film analysis, make translations, math.

Want to learn to dance salsa and cumbia!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Good question...

Over all, many things of myself.

And, of course, some time.

Countries I’ve Visited

Mexico, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In

Honduras, Mexico
