About Me

CURRENT MISSION...

Improve my understanding of the world and those I encounter. I chose to do a job that will put me in contact with people from all walks of life and let me live in different countries. I strive to not be ignorant of other people's circumstances and cultures.

ABOUT ME...

I'm very laid back and easy to get along with. I like having a good debate or positive discussion. I'm horrid at small talk. I enjoy trying new things, especially the weird stuff. I have probably tried every hobby out there but I hate to admit I am pretty fickle and lose interest after a bit. I like having fun, new experiences and hope CS will give me that. Even though my work keeps me from traveling as much as I'd like, I try to travel whenever I can afford it.

I am pansexual and can finally be out and proud in all aspects of my life about myself. Due to that, I do not have the patience for anyone who has anything negative to say to me. I always try to be a positive and accepting person but willful ignorance and intolerance I will not let stand.

PHILOSOPHY...

Don't let the world just pass you by. Watch and learn from others everyday. No one else can tell you who you are. You never stop learning things about yourself and you never stop growing. Never waste your energy on worrying about the hard times and fight for the good times.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have hosted a few people but I haven't had the opportunity to surf anyone's couch yet. A friend introduced me to CS when we were housemates.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE...

I remember our great amusement at the poor guys who were backpacking Alaska for a couple weeks and were in heaven when they got to my place and finally were able to have a nice long shower. Those two had some good life stories to tell.

Interests

I hope to visit all the countries in Asia. I want to see Japan the most. I also have a very severe Asian fetish that I get picked on for constantly (yellow fever) but it's amusing.

I love to hike and bike. I'm trying to get back into rock-climbing after an injury. I love participating in sports even if I don't know what I am doing or suck at it. Volleyball, Baseball/Softball, Hockey, Soccer (it is!!), American Football (heh)...

I am a book worm and total comic book geek. I love philosophy, science and psychology themed books. I would love to go to a Richard Dawkins debate.
My book reading got so bad once that I'd read walking through the halls and my friends made a game out of trying to push me into the locker. My peripheral vision is on point thanks to that!

Music, Movies, and Books

Sci-fi/Fantasy, Comics , Graphic Novels and yes I'll admit to indulging in some romance novels when I don't have a lot of time. I have trouble putting a book down once I start but I'm a quick reader so it doesn't get too bad.

I watch a wide variety of movies from Forgetting Sarah Marshall to Children of Men. I love horror movies. Especially the Evil Dead franchise. Sam Raimi is a genius. I am an anime geek no lie. Asian dramas and movies are a guilty pleasure. Korean and Japanese horror movies are just awesome!

There are so many good TV shows out these days: Game of Thrones, Penny Dreadful, Daredevil, Orphan Black, True Detective...

I mostly listen to rock music. I can always chill out to some blues and jazz music. I don't like rap or country very much but give me some blue grass music any day.
I love to go out dancing but house music needs to burn, burn it all!!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

A couple friends and I went swimming (skinny dipping) in Glacier water while in Alaska. I went Halibut fishing and it was delicious! I have hiked on a glacier and watched the aurora borealis.
I've been flying a few times in this flying parachute contraption I can never remember the name of. And it was flown by a mennonite which is a bonus in my book.

(I guess that isn't one thing is it? Rules are for chumps...)

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach/share - unfortunately I don't have any particularly interesting skill sets but I love talking about culture, people and countries I've seen.

Learn - I love to learn about anything and everything. I'm not afraid!
