About Me
Hey human! I'm Francisco, originally from Maracaibo, Venezuela, then I immigrated to the USA in 2013 and became a double citizen. However, life brought me to Brazil, and I've been living here since that calling. I'm regularly seeking new journeys and experiences with cultures around the world.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
My path is focused in interacting and respecting and embracing all positive cultures and beliefs. I seek to further my global mindset as a citizen of Earth, to have memorable conversations with people from all cultures and backgrounds, and to have a life full of experiences and stories worth looking back to.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music is a huge part of my life and my well-being, try me with your music! I listen to virtually anything, recently I've been exploring Techno goodies, but on a regular basis I listen to rock and metal. System of a Down, Korn, Tool, Rishloo, APC, Linkin Park, UFO and Pink Floyd are some of my favorites. I also frequent reggae, jazz, salsa and classical compositions quite often. Then there's those great moments to go with Bossa Nova, Blues... I really like music lol.
Movies: The Matrix Trilogy, the Harry Potter Saga, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, the SAW Series, Mr. Nobody, JOKER staring Joaquin Fenix, many more! I'll watch anything that is just good: Detailed masterpieces get me greatly excited/engaged, with its remarkable production, storyline and/or acting.
Books: The George R.R. Martin's ASOIAF (Game of Thrones) Saga is the uncontested winner. Then again I haven't really read that many books (yet... lol)
Some of my favorite quotes:
- "El desarrollo no es material, es un estado de conciencia mental." Gondwana
- "My country is the world, and my religion is to do good." Thomas Paine
- "The real secret of life; to be completely engaged with what you are doing in the here and now. And instead of calling it work, realize it is play." Alan Watts
- "We are one species. We are star stuff harvesting star light." Carl Sagan
- "While it is always best to believe in oneself, a little help from others can be a great blessing." Iroh from Avatar: The Last Airbender
- "But... As bad as it was, I learned something about myself. That I could go through something like that and survive." Nicholas Sparks
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
- I slept for ~20 hours straight once. Amazing, isn't it?
- I crossed the border between Brazil and Argentina (Iguaçu) around midnight, on foot.
- I loved.
Teach, Learn, Share
In terms in traveling, so far all the experiences that led me to interact with travelers have been the ones that I have most enjoyed. In my opinion, the meeting of the minds is one of the most thrilling things to live for.
I am a huge skeptic and am very fond of discussing profound topics such as astronomy, spirituality, evolution, economics, history, time and space with the knowledgeable and/or the curious.
I'm also very passionate about photography, it is one of the aspect I cherish the most about my travels; it allows me to keep moments from vanishing, allowing me to empower memories by granting them a piece of eternity. This perception has kept me close to this art since I was a kid.
What I Can Share with Hosts
In my hometown's equivalent to the Boy Scout movement (Movimiento Scouts de Venezuela), we had a code that stated: "Leave the places you visit in a better shape than in the shape you found it". I try to that code to all my couchsurfing experiences, in all aspects; if you decide to host me, know that I will be very respectful as I know your house is your sacred space, and also know, I will make my most sincere effort to make your life at least a tiny bit better than it was before we met!
I'm happy to say that I've met most of my good friends through out-of-the-box experiences. It was in one of these situations where a friend recommended me to try this community, and I have been pretty active with it on my travels ever since.
