About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Achieve fluency in 20 languages.

ABOUT ME

Hello. My name is Cameron, though I prefer it to be written with a K. I am just another 20 year old guy from the U.S.A. I spend most of my current time studying linguistics(as a social science meaning: The study of human communication.) I know a decent amount of Mandarin Chinese and I am on my way to become fluent in 20 or more languages around the world. I can't stay in any place for too long. This upcoming spring of 2012, I will be leaving to start my trip around the world and living the experiences that very few are gutsy enough to do. My name is Kameron. I am an opinionated humanitarian. I love each day as if it is the first. And I am a full-time nomadic linguist.

PHILOSOPHY

My personal philosophies are a tad too long to type. I am a humanitarian, an atheist, an internationalist, and a viewpoint neutralist. I love every word that I hear because language is one of the most beautiful arts ever developed. Without language in some form, I don't believe that society would have come to this point anthropologically and sociologically speaking. Not everything is at it appears. It is best to be a pessimist in most respects, but in others strictly optimistic. If you base your life around an introspective personality and the views that you have of yourself, you will never grow. The best thing that you can do is to just let go of everything.

Learn to love and smile.

Learn to get along with the people around you.

Never let wicked deeds go unnoticed or unpunished.

Always stand up for your fellow man.

Learn as much as you are able about your world because it is most likely factual that you have only one chance.

Live and grow, but die with those around you knowing that you didn't waste a single moment.

Interests

Language, linguistics, philosophy, political analysis, sociology and social analysis, anthropology, semiotics, phonology, traveling, reading, writing, speaking, learning, music, and the arts of all kinds.

Music, Movies, and Books

I won't name specifics, but I will name authors. I enjoy works, for the most part, by:

S. I. Hayakawa, Noam Chomsky, Christopher Hitchens, Charles Darwin, Richard Dawkins, Steven Pinker, David Crystal, Petto & Godfrey, Daniel Kane, Ferdinand de Saussure, Robert McCrum, and Guy Duetscher.

I love the movies: Tree of Life, Moon(Even though I haven't seen it..), Requiem for a Dream, Black Swan, The Fountain, Inception, Fearless(Jet Li), I am Legend, and anything by Nolan including Batman. Anything by Aronofski as well.

Musically, musical, music. This is an interesting word actually. Very few people take into context its actual meaning. That meaning being: Muse-like, inspirational. Not just a conglomeration of sound, but something that is inspired by something more than simple forethought. I listen to quite a bit.

Clint Mansell, Bartok, Beethoven, Bach, Hans Zimmer, Tchaikovsky, Yoyo Ma, Jeff Danna, traditionally cultural works or emulations, Jay Chou, piano, violin, Phoenix, Wang Leehom, LCD Sound-system, Magic Power, Crystal Castles, MGMT, TEEE, etc.

Though I will blast out to the top 10 pop hits on the radio like everyone secretly does. Wo shi huang yin wu chi. :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The things that people do are probably the most interesting and amazing things I've ever witnessed. From the basic, every-day, methodical actions to the odd, deranged, and occasionally somewhat funny things that the people around you do. Watching and listening is a wonderful talent.

I've nearly died countless times in varieties of situations. It's enthralling.

Going to Reykjavic, Iceland with wo de ba xiong di.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to learn anything you are willing to teach me.

I know how to cook and I can teach useful Mandarin phrases as well as english.

I will share just about anything. I'm abnormally altruistic.
