About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Just absolutely enjoy life, as much as possible.

ABOUT ME

Sawadeekaa chommas! My name is Alea, I am from Vancouver, Canada. Since as far back as I can remember I've wanted to travel, so when I was 19 I flew to Europe on my own and started out. There I met my boyfriend Alex with whom I've been traveling with since- we stayed in Cape Town for a bit (can not wait to go back, saffas are the best) and from there we traveled to Thailand to live and work as English teachers for one year. We flew back to Canada to work at a summer camp outside of Montreal. Summer camp was awful, but we look back on it and laugh pretty hard. We traveled through Vietnam and Cambodia and are now back and settled into life in Phuket. I loveeeeee the tropics

I am currently working at a local dog rescue in Thailand. I love these dogs so much and am inspired to start rescuing dogs and adopting them out during my travels, when I can.

I love sports like soccer and can even watch them on the TV from time to time. My life is headed more and more into an active and healthy lifestyle. I hate the gym but I love moving my body. Let's hike rather than run the treadmill.

I love learning and could spend hours watching informational videos on youtube.

90% of what I eat is fruit. Serious. I adore it. Call me crazy, that's okay. 10 frozen bananas in a blender = absolute heaven for me.

Also, I love hippies. Tell me stories of Burning man, Woodstock, or that crazy acid trip you had and I'll be hooked.

PHILOSOPHY

I laugh a lot.. I don't see the advantage in taking life very seriously. Although I do love a good discussion or debate.

I believe community is the biggest factor in ones happiness. "Happiness is only real when shared" - Into the Wild

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

So far I haven't hosted any couchsurfers because I've been living at home. I will soon be moving out so this shall quickly change!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have met up with couchsurfers in my hometown to show them around. I have surfed in Montreal, Ho Chi Minh City, Phnom Penh, and Siem Reap.

Interests

I love learning new skills. Lately I've been super interested in languages and challenging myself to get over silly fears of mine. I adore playing in nature - biking, hiking, swimming, SUPing, walking the dogs.. you name it

Dogs are a huge part of my life and dog training is my field of study. I love this field so much because I'm constantly learning.

I love living a healthy lifestyle. A vegan diet, exercise, and sun- yessss

I love to socialize, and my ideal way of doing so is by doing something together, things like hiking, walking the dogs, sightseeing, etc. I absolutely adore seeing a live concert or festival.

I don't drink much at all lately, I've just realized that alcohol only suppresses social anxiety temporarily. I want to actually get over social anxiety rather than just relying on booze. It's a great challenge, I'm loving it. I still do enjoy going out and no judgment whatsoever towards those who do drink. My next challenge is sober karaokee.. (I can't sing worth shit)
