About Me

I'm a firm believer that honesty and openness make acquaintances become best friends. Some of my favorite pastimes are acting like I can play instruments, drinking coffee for the taste of it in the afternoon, and singing in an annoying falsetto that sounds nothing like Justin Timberlake. I listen to odd indie music on Spotify because it makes me feel current and hip. You can find me at thrift stores continually reclaiming my title as the Legend, buying old clothes from the 90's for chump change. I have an abnormal obsession with pretzels, Cheez-Its, peanut butter, and any combination of the three. Every few days, I become a vegetarian because I feel like I need to catch up on being healthy. Sometimes I make jokes, smile or laugh as a coping mechanism. I try to be a Christian, but sometimes I confuse it with reading my devotional every morning and praying before bed. However, I do run religiously every two weeks when I start to feel like it's been too long or if I feel like I'm in over my head. My biggest struggle is practicing humility while trying to be unique. I attempt to plan spontaneity, and sometimes it works.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I will be traveling throughout Europe during the Spring of 2015, and I'm interested in finding places to stay and people to meet along the way! I am studying abroad this semester in Spain, and I'm interested in learning as much as I can about other cultures from people who are a part of them.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

How about a couple? My blog is pretty neat, and it covers a lot of the cool things that I've done since I've been in Spain!

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm currently volunteering as a teacher for ESL classes in Madrid! The students I teach are mainly Spanish-speakers, but I think that I could easily teach at least some things to native speakers of other languages.

That being said, I'm currently attempting to perfect my Spanish fluency (although I might be far from it!), so I expect there will probably be some sharing of knowledge if my hosts/surfers speak Spanish! :)

The one thing I miss most about living in the US with a full kitchen is cooking. I could help you cook a meal or maybe even attempt to cook you an American meal (whatever that is!). I adore American breakfast foods, "horseshoes" from Springfield, IL, and homemade pizza.

I'm a bit of a science nerd. Specifically, I could talk about biological applications of engineering all day long. I could teach you something about cell research or neuroengineering!

I enjoy playing the guitar! That doesn't necessarily mean I'm that good at it, but I could give basic lessons if you have a guitar lying around somewhere. :)
