About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To discover.

ABOUT ME

I am taking a year out of university in order to learn more about myself and the world in a different physical context (Europe). I am employed by a nice family in Brussels, Belgium, who I met through a website not so different from this one. For this reason, my trust in the (good) powers of the internet is not quite as limited as it would be otherwise. I am interested in travel (obviously), words, love...to name a few things. I am generally a more reserved character, but am open at the same time; I would be happy to meet you!

PHILOSOPHY

This is a very large question...my response to it almost changes by the day. Perhaps that is some answer in itself? When it comes down to it, I feel that the way in which life appears is dependent upon the lens in which you hold in front of you. Life can be beautiful (if you want it to be)! Etc. etc.

Interests

children, places I have yet to see, people I have yet to meet, honesty, writing

Music, Movies, and Books

A handful of things that I've read relatively recently that have affected me in one way or another: "Death in Venice", "Slaughterhouse Five", "Krapp's Last Tape", "Alias Grace", "The Road", "Invisible Monsters", "Catcher in the Rye", and "Song of Solomon". I also read a considerable amount of poetry...I am particularly fond of Anne Michaels and T.S. Elliot... I am no good when it comes to favorites, but am pretty open-minded regarding literature in general; contemporary or classic, I like anything that moves me, and that I can either relate to or empathize with on some level.
As for music, the majority that I listen to regularly would probably fall under the folk category (though I have to stress my contempt for categories in general). Again, though, I am quite open-minded, or try to be.
A few movies that come to mind right now: "You and Me and Everyone We Know", "American Beauty", "Amelie", "Roman Holiday", "Annie Hall"...once again, I struggle with listing 'favorites'.
