Overview
About Me
Hello. :) My name is Aleigha Blakley. I grew up in Charleston SC, but I have traveled all over the world and lived in the Virgin Islands for many years. I'm currently traveling around New Zealand for the next 4 months to a year and my goal is to see as much of the wildlife as possible before I leave. I've been camping and farming my way through the country so far, so I'm very interested in meeting more locals and fellow travelers. I'm very laid back. I love anything outdoors; hiking, hunting, fishing, photography, horseback riding, etc. I'm not a big party person, but I do love a good drink in a laid back place.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I've met some truly amazing people on my trip and it's only just begun. I love the cultural diversity this country attracts, and I'm very interested in experiencing the real local culture of New Zealand. I think that everyone has something new and interesting they can share and look forward to the experiences to come.

Music, Movies, and Books
I like almost any kind of music, and I've loved hearing songs from other cultures. My favorite book series is The Name of the Wind. I also loved the Clan of the Cave Bear series, but nothing can compete with Rothfuss. haha. I also like a lot of movies but I don't watch TV very often. The Marvel series was awesome, Avatar (the live action blue people and the cartoon airbender. :) , Game of Thrones, etc etc.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
There's too many to list. I have so many moments I treasure. I've seen the Mayan pyramids in Mexico, swam with the sea lions in the Galapagos, and hiked from one end of Scotland to the other. I trained a little falcon to come to a whistle before releasing her back to the wild, I trained a 2,000 pound horse to ride without a saddle or a bridle, I got a chicken on an airplane from st croix to the US because she was too young to be left behind, and I found out the hard way that you can't actually ride an emu. Everyday is a chance for a new experience, and I try to make the most of each one.
