About Me

I am from Colombia, but a year and a half ago I moved to Botucatu to study my pHD. I'm a biologist and a very academically focused person, so by all means you can call me a nerd! But I also am very passionate about passion. I love meeting new people, having new experiences and travelling because those are the kind of things that enrich your live, and at the end of the day, your memories, your experiences and your knowledge are the only things that are truly yours. I also think that any experience is a lot more valuable if it is in good company, so I enjoy good company I always try to be a good companion myself.
My hobbies include working out, reading, watching movies. I love outdoors and I'm always up for an outdoor plan. I am a very open minded person and love a good conversation, I can talk about everything and I am also a good listener who is always open to other's points of view as long as they are expressed with respect.
I love to travel and meet new people because, both from new and old places it's basically the best, learning about new cultures and getting to share mine is one of the best experiences. I've travelled to many places and I've also lived in different places and I just hope the list keeps on growing as I keep living.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I basically love the idea of it, a netwok of people that love to travel and share expereinces. I decided to join, because my friends gave amazing reviews and because this year I have decided to start this new year giving the new place I'm living a chance to present itself and to make I my own and not only the place I go from home to work and vice versa, so what moves me right now is to get to know coach surfers that live in Botucatu or cities nearby. In the future I would love to try it for traveling or hosting people.

Interests

I like to work out, although I am not really a big sport fan, right now I am a little of a gym addict, I have also really recently start to do yoga and I'm loving it, I love to walk either wonder in a city with no other purpose than to enjoy the view or to walk outdoors and do some hiking.
I LOVE food, good food is one of the things I most enjoy, I think that sharing food is an international, language free way, way of shearing love and I'm always willing to try new flavors, there some -few- things I don't like but I am not really picky with food and I will test anything, I have also started to cook and so far I am really satisfied with the results I hope to be better and better every day.
I also like to learn and teach languages, they are one of my passions and I completely adore them! I'm always wanting to learn some little phrases of the languages I don't speak, like to say hi, or bye or cheers, or order a bear... and I am also always willing to hear any comment that will help me improve any of the languages that that I'm fluent at.
Finally chat in general completely ok with me, I love talking about biology specifically, science in general and mostly life, I can hear people talk about almost anything as long as they're excited about it.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music:
I'm all over the place, it changes a lot from time to time, it goes from reggetton to Classic rock, and I can't say I have a favorite artist, I have something special with Spanish rock, like Fito Paez and Soda Estereo, they're kind of my roots but I'm up for anything.

Movies I really enjoy romantic comedies and I think Disney doesn't get old. But I'm willing to watch every genre except for horror.

With books I'm also all over the place. I enjoy best sellers, like I'm a big Harry Potter fan and love the Millenium saga. But I also love war and peace by Tolstoi, and I had a Little obsession with Julio Cortázar, Ernesto Sábato and Pablo Neruda at some point. Lately I discovered historic novels as a whole I fully enjoyed some of them. Currently I am Reading Rainbow Rowell, an American contemporary writer and I am pretty much in love with her books.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Traveling is by far the most amazing thing I've done, at least by traveling i've gotten the most amazing memories that still fill me with happiness.
Such as seeing the Indian ocean from a cliff in a Buddhist temple in Bali.
The realization that I was opening my eyes in an apartment in alphabet city in Manhattan.
The excitement of watching the cars move at an intersection during rush hour in Rome.
Arriving to the Iguaque lagoon after three hours of walking/climbing in the paramos (I can't get tired of that one)
And most recently
Being in Bogota as a visitor and realizing that it will always be my city
Watching huge cargo ships cross through the Panama Canal
Another amazing thing I've done and still am doing is my pHD. I hope it will be even more amazing once i'm done

Teach, Learn, Share
