About Me

Hi everybody!

It is not always easy to meet people (who are they, where do they come, etc.) so in order to let people know a bit of me, I have tried to to summarize my life in a few lines as it was a trailer of a film.

Welcome to the trailer of my life:
I was born in Burgos where I have spent almost my whole life. Since I was a child, I have grown up In a very good ambience: good friends, lovely family, nice quiet city; so I could say my life as a child was really really easy and comfortable. While I was growing up I started to realise that there were two fields of my life that were very important: scouts an sport. I have been a scout since I was 8 what has make me live thinking about others feelings, about how the nature is so important or about how important are some values as honesty, empathy, gently and love, between other things. At the same time, I spent much time practising a great variety of sports such as badminton, basketball, tennis, swimming or horse riding, what taught me about the values of compromise, effort and fellowship. So what can I say, I had a fabulous adolescence.

Then I arrived at the university and I started studying mechanical engineering, due to my interest in machinery, engines and designing. All went well, I got high marks, I was one of the best students of my year and I finished my degree in four years. Because of that, I was admitted in a training programme in a multinational company in Burgos and I started my career as an engineer; so I considered myself be happy and fortunate. However, after a few years working in that company, I realised that that work of engineer wasn't made for me. I have a good job, a good work team and good conditions, but I felt I wasn't doing nothing to help others or the world. I have spent my whole life trying to help others in volunteers without children, with adults with disabled people, but my work wasn´t related with none of that. So what I decided? I decided to leave my job and travel to Africa as a volunteer and in that moment all changed.

On my travel to Africa I discovered how important is to help others, how important is to know the reality of the world and how lucky we are with all we have. It's impossible to summarise my travel and my feelings, but what I can say is that when I returned to Spain, I was other Alejandro. In my return, I decided to study something what could help others (specially children) so I started a master study in international cooperation and a master study in teaching.

After finishing these studies, I started working as a teacher for primary and secondary children in a space who tries to promote scientific and technological vocations in order to help children to be they want to be. Until now, I have had the opportunity to see how the children think on what to do in the future and who are that people they would like to be. Furthermore, I have the opportunity to help them in this process.

Now, after some years, I feel that I am, as the Scouts say, “Building a better world”.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am travelling because after my travel to Tanzania (Africa) I realised how interesting are the cultures of the rest of the world including people, places or nature.

I also discovered that the photography can tell us stories that nobody could imagine. So due to my passion about photography I'm trying to tell these stories about what I see and what other people are living and show people how fantastic and unique they are.

By travelling I want to offer my skills as an amateur photographer to help people to immortalise moments and feelings to keep them forever.

Music, Movies, and Books

I really like reading, altough I do it less that I would like. I am passionate about fantasy and science fictions books. My best books are: Dune, Mistborn, The name of the wind, Elantris, Eragon, etc.

About movies I like all of them, specially related to medieval ambience, superheroes, fantasy, etc.

Music? All types, but I would need to say an artist Ed Sheeran

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The most impressive thing I have done in my life has been walking the Camino de Santiago from France to Santiago de Compostela for a month.

Teach, Learn, Share

I prefer the concept of sharing since when you collaborate with someone you always learn something new.

I am not an expert but I can share with you knowledge of:
- Photography: take, edit, models, etc (https://www.instagram.com/ojo_de_rey/?hl=es)
- Nature: camping, hiking, orienteering, material, conditions, GPS, etc.
- Technology: office software, 3D design, design video games, modelling, electricity, electronics, robotics, etc.
- Sports and activities; I can prepare activities for children and adults, games, sports, etc.
- Greenhouse: I have some skills to work on the greenhouse about plants, insects, etc

But I can adapt to any activity that needs my help.
