About Me

So I'm 19 and graduated high school June 2016. Instead of going to a college I didn't want to go to, studying and undeclared major and be in debt for years and years over something I may later find out doesn't even make me happy, I decided to save up some money and travel. I'm just trying new things to see what really makes me happy and seeing what the world is like outside the bubble of my little hometown in upstate New York.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I could stay in hotels if I want to, but I'd run out of money quicker and it's more boring because I don't get to meet real people. I also often don't know what I'm doing out here, and talking to locals gives me some direction with where to take my travels.

Interests

Human behavior, psychology, drawing, singing, writing, the concepts of masculinity and femininity, what makes someone normal and what makes them weird, certain types of spirituality (depending on what mood I'm in sometimes I don't care), psychedelic drugs and meditation, being a functional member of society, ethics, brainwashing, greed, kindness, drug addiction, some types of crime, effective government and policing, anarchy, eating healthy (not that I do always, but it's become a recent interest), maturity, speech and communication, debate, parenting, what the same words mean to different people and things of that nature, and what we can do to end human suffering

I find a lot of things interesting. The main way to label it is stuff that is relevant to me and my well being in some way shape or form, although that's kind of a vague statement that can take on many meanings.

Music, Movies, and Books

The first rule is I'm not supposed to talk about it. Guess what the second rule is.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

This one time I climbed Mount Everest bare naked in four days with nothing but a medium sized bag of jelly beans and a bottle of Gatorade for nourishment. It was extraordinary.

Kidding. I don't know. I guess travelling the world is a good answer. But it's all relative as I'm sure people think some things I've done are amazing while others don't care. It's all in the eye of the beholder ;)

Teach, Learn, Share

I want to learn things that can help me improve my life and make me happier or more functional. What specifically does that changes all the time depending on my life situation and recent experiences.

Teaching is a bit harder for me because I don't have a solid answer for that. I like an answer I read on a profile that said "whatever comes to mind." I guess I can teach what I've learned so far about how to end human suffering, although sometimes I try to tell my friends and they look at me weird. The message doesn't always come across. I don't know, really. I want to teach people helpful things, it's just that I don't always have confidence in myself which makes it hard to come up with a good answer on what I'm good at. But if there is something that comes up that I can teach, I will do what I can. I have all sorts of tidbits of information in the back of my mind. I hope I can find a way to use it.

I can also listen to you. Not enough people really listen to you in the world and I am learning the best way to really really listen to people because I've found it to be so helpful and wonderful when people listened to me

What I Can Share with Hosts

Like I said, listening. And whatever else comes up that I can do. Mostly, I try to be nice to people as much as I can. If I'm not it's either because I can't in that situation or because I don't know what the best way to act is. I'm open to learning. Always learning.
