About Me

Hello fellow adventurers! 🌍 I'm Alejandro, but everyone calls me Álex. I've been soaking up the vibrant vibes of Barcelona for the past 3 and a half years, and I'm thrilled to dive into the Couchsurfing universe to connect with incredible people from around the globe.

Professionally, I navigate the intriguing world of law, but outside the office, my heart belongs to the wonders of life. At 29, I'm on a perpetual quest for knowledge and experience. You'll often find me nose-deep in a book, hitting the pavement for a run, or carving up the slopes in winter while skiing. I'm just as comfortable exploring the depths of the sea while scuba diving as I am immersing myself in the eclectic sounds of indie tunes or the timeless beauty of opera.

My curiosity knows no bounds, and I'm always on the lookout for the next great adventure. Whether it's absorbing the arts in galleries or jet-setting to far-off lands, or escaping to the mountains for a rejuvenating hike, I believe every moment is an opportunity to discover something new.

What truly fuels my spirit, though, is connecting with people and unraveling the tapestry of their passions. Everyone has a story, a passion that sets their soul on fire, and I'm genuinely captivated by these tales. So, if you're looking for a cozy spot to crash in Barcelona and a friend to share stories and laughter, my couch is ready, and so am I! 🛋️

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've embarked on this Couchsurfing journey because, for me, life is about connections and stories. Barcelona has become my home away from home, and I can't wait to open my doors to fellow adventurers who share a passion for exploration and cultural exchange.

The magic of Couchsurfing lies in the moments when strangers become friends, and homes transform into lively hubs of shared experiences. I believe in the power of hospitality to bridge cultures and create lasting memories. So, if you're looking for more than just a place to crash but a genuine taste of Barcelona's warmth, a friend to guide you through its secrets, and a cozy couch to call your own, then you've found the right spot!

Whether we're sipping on wine or navigating the narrow alleys of the Gothic Quarter together, let's make your stay in Barcelona unforgettable. So, why am I on Couchsurfing? Because I'm here to turn your visit into an adventure, and my couch is the starting point!

Music, Movies, and Books

Music 🎵:
When it comes to music, my heart beats to the rhythm of indie-rock vibes, and if there's one band that holds the key to my musical soul, it's definitely Phoenix. I'm on the verge of spontaneous combustion at the thought of catching Sufjan Stevens live soon – a musical dream waiting to unfold. Other favorites in my playlist include the soulful sounds of Wilco and the soothing melodies of Kings of Convenience. If you're up for a sonic journey, my Barcelona abode might just be the perfect pitstop for music enthusiasts.

Spoiler: In my house there is two different sound systems but I don´t have a tv!

Movies 🎬:
Cinematic magic, anyone? I'm a sucker for spy flicks, especially the suave world of James Bond. But my film taste doesn't stop there – I thrive on the intensity of war films, get lost in documentaries about writers, and find pure joy in heist movies. "Road to Perdition," "The Usual Suspects," and "Match Point" are like old friends that I can watch over and over again. So, whether you're into thrilling espionage or contemplating the complexities of art theft, let's make it a movie night in Barcelona.

Books 📚:
Ah, the written word, my constant companion! I've dived into the intellectual realms of "The Utility of the Useless" by Nuccio Ordine, danced through the pages of Pérez-Reverte's "The Tango of the Guardia Vieja," and marched alongside Chaves Nogales in "A sangre y fuego." Hemingway's "A Moveable Feast" holds a special place in my literary heart. Nowadays, I'm on a mission to read everything that crosses my path – from crime novels to essays, and my collection of ancient and rare books is a testament to my literary wanderings across the globe.

So, whether you're looking to groove to indie beats, binge on cinematic adventures, or dive into the pages of captivating books, my Couchsurfing spot in Barcelona is your cultural haven. Let the shared stories and passions begin!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Several years ago, I co-founded an amateur theater company in Valencia with former classmates. We staged very modest performances and endeavored to create our own productions. I took on the task of writing scripts for some of our inaugural works. I vividly recall the first time I watched my peers perform one of my scripts— it was one of the most thrilling moments of my youth. It was a scene portraying a woman arguing with her boyfriend, the boyfriend’s lover, and the lover’s mother (the role of the mother was played by my actual mother). I still remember the astonished expressions on the faces of our small audience.

Teach, Learn, Share

Book Haven at Your Fingertips 📚🏡:

In the realm of sharing, let's talk about a gem that holds a special place in my heart – my mini library, a literary haven with over 300 titles. Now, this isn't just a collection of books; it's a curated selection of stories, adventures, and knowledge waiting to be explored.

For me, sharing goes beyond the surface, and this library is a testament to that belief. It's a snapshot of my journey, a mosaic of worlds discovered and cherished over the years. What's more, it's a tradition I reserve for my closest friends, and now, as my guest, you're in on the secret.

As we delve into the "Share" spirit, this library becomes a gateway to revelations, a chance to uncover the essence of Spain, my passions, and the tales that have shaped me. These aren't just books; they're companions that have witnessed the echoes of laughter and the hush of shared confidences.

What I Can Share with Hosts

A Culinary Odyssey 🍲🍷:

Not an expert at all, but willing to explore the flavors of Spanish homemade delights (or at least trying it). Whether it's a traditional paella (I´m originally from Valencia, the birthplace of paella), or a crash course in crafting the tortilla de patata, my skills are a culinary playground...

Language Exchange 🗣️🌍:

Dive into the beauty of the Spanish language. I'm more than happy to help you brush up on your español, exchange language tips, or even teach you a few quirky phrases to impress the locals.

Run, Hike, Explore 🏃‍♂️🏞️:

Whether it's pounding the pavement for a morning run, planning a scenic hike, or exploring the city's green spaces, I'm your go-to companion for outdoor adventures. Let's breathe in the fresh air, stay active, and uncover the natural beauty that surrounds us.

Concert Companionship 🎶🤝:

Consider me your ultimate concert buddy! Whether it's indie-rock, classical tunes, or something in between, we'll hit the venues together and soak in the rhythm of the city. Get ready to dance, sing, and create unforgettable musical memories.

Artful Explorations 🎨🖼️:

Let´s discover the artistic side of the city together. From contemporary galleries to historic art districts, we'll traverse the city's creative landscapes. Share your thoughts on the brushstrokes of local artists or let´s just misunderstand together contemporary art!
